Fallout 4 Next-Gen Update Gets Release Date

Same, I tend to be a lot less pitchforky than most, and I tested both modes on release, noticed a difference in quality between the two and immediately preferred Quality, and then assumed the new “it’s broken” was taken as fact without any follow-up. Sure feels good to be have my point proven again

Damn, so there is a visual difference? I had a hard time seeing it. Then again, I do sit about 4 meters away from my 65 inch screen, at that distance it’s hard to notice differences probably, haha. What are the differences you spot?

I only played a bit - have been hooked on my backlog, 76… and Oblivion lol - but I checked out the major areas of Boston proper, since that’s where I’d notice performance dips and whatnot previous the update. From what I could tell, the resolution and texture quality was a bit higher on Quality with a few dips in frame rate (but not enough to justify the switch to performance), and performance mode never saw a drop in frames for me (coupled with the above detriments compared to quality mode).

So, they didn’t test anything except the FPS then? I can see them testing against the patch notes and why they said it’s broken, but if they didn’t test the other aspects of the modes to confirm any differences then I guess that could be an oversight on their part.

I saw this tweet by Colt. Am I missing something here or isn’t DF saying this at all?

I ignore DF in general for a reason

Well, in this case they are OK, I think. It’s Colt that seems to misinterpret what they are saying. But as for DF, I’m guessing they didn’t read the recent BGS tweet where they basically say all is well.

So then both are wrong, and Jesse is in good company for ignoring content like this when there have been so many points of contention over their findings. To still see erroneous points discussed as fact while it’s a days-old, incorrect assessment (again, as confirmed by the developers of the game), should at least call into question the validity of any other point being made…

Edit: Yes, the point still stands if Quality mode is bugged but it’s still meant to run at 60 FPS (as Bethesda confirmed) - because the equation of the framerate to potential texture differences is still wrong, as they’re definitively two mutually-exclusive facts.

They record these streams for patrons early then it goes public a bit later

How do you access the new creation club content ? Do you need to download it from the score like you did with the Skyrim anniversary edition?

Sorry to bring it up again. But here’s DF showing the differences of quality mode between XSX and PS5 and yeah, that difference can’t be denied. Is it perhaps because it’s at 60fps on XSX and 30fps on PS5? The difference in LOD is absolutely there.

And ignore the guy with the hyperbole about it being flawless on PS5 etc, it’s only about the clip.

It’s weird. Yeah, maybe it’s a bug on Xbox. But what if they targeted 60 FPS on both modes on Xbox because of other settings and features ? What if it was the intended results ?

I mean, yeah, there’s like 4 trees missing in the background and some grass displacement, but we are discussing some blades of grass and trees here… What’s the resolution or framerate on Xbox and PS5 ? I think that’s important informations to have to get a better idea of the differences.

True. I was looking for a full DF video, but I don’t see it. Where is that clip from? Is it a patreon only thing or something?

It’s already downloaded when you launch the game with the update. You can go scroll in the Creation Club, it’s there.

It’s right at the start.

Oooh, it’s those weekly things. I thought they’d make a full analysis video.

Unfortunately one of the new quest added with the update, when pigs fly, the weapon models are missing. Causing my Nora to carry around invisible weapons and this

To pop up on locations where quest take place.

Doing things out of order makes for some fun scenes.

I get why people want to have the scripted scenes but talking to mama Murphy as she lifting weights about getting her drugs is just golden.

How has Microsoft seriously not had an XSS and XSX bundle on shelves with Fallout 3, NV, 4, and 76 for when the show hit? I’m convinced they actively try to not sell consoles.
