It felt barren though when I played Fable 3. Realistically it’s the power of the hardware 15 years ago limiting what can be on the screen.
Wonder if playground can make the whole ‘acorn’ Molyneux feature come true with these new consoles
No, Fable’s job is being Fable. C’mon really wish you guys would stop comparing this series to completely different franchises with different design goals.
We wouldn’t be having these discussions if we knew what being Fable meant in 2024. My main point was is that there is more that differentiates Fable from the other fantasy RPGs on Xbox than simply being light hearted an social.
If they have multiplayer ambitions more than just co-op then it shouldn’t come near the single player experience. They have two options:
-
Like Rockstar: GTA and RDR. Which is basically the same open world but in a separate mode in the menu, it doesn’t intervene with the single player.
-
A completely separate game for online, which use the same world and all that but just a separate game/client.
If they make a forced shared world like Forza Horizon which yeah you can play SP/offline but it still feels like an online thing then it wouldn’t work for Fable imo and it could just bring unnecessary negativity to them even if the game is fantastic. In story driven games, I want to feel the story and world is about my character, even when playing co-op, no need to make the world feel like an MMO or anything like that. I always turn off anything like invasion mode or anything like that in SP games.
I can tell you as a fact that it won’t be anything like HZD, don’t know why people go in circles like this.
I’m super curious on what the combat will be
People just bring that as a similar situation of Guerrilla going from FPS > open world, action-RPG. Playground going from racing open > action-RPG open world.
Hopefully, an improved version of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning’s combat and magic system.
Ooh what a throwback. That could be a good template to go with.
I am not talking about Fable 3 but Fable TLC
I was about to say they’re playing the wrong fable!
@Ulster36thDiv I would suriously recommend fable 2 or Fable TLC. Both of these games are head and shoulders above Fable 3 IMO (tbh i would only play Fable 3 for the online coop)
Fable 2 I believe is better than Fablle TLC but I don’t like the controls in Fable 2.
