I don’t have an all time gaming list as a separate generations. I don’t like the idea of my best SNES games going against my best PS4 games for example. Anyway, I’ll just post my top 5 games for the current generation (Xbox Series and PlayStation 5), the eighth generation (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One) and the seventh generation (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3) since that’s when I started keeping track of my gaming stuff.

Ninth Generation (Xbox Series and PlayStation 5)

  1. Halo Infinite - 9.5/10
  2. Dying Light 2: Stay Human - 9.0/10
  3. Marvel’s Spider Man: Miles Morales - 9.0/10
  4. Horizon II: Forbidden West - 9.0/10
  5. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart - 9.0/10

Eighth Generation (PlayStation 4 and Xbox One)

  1. The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - 9.5/10
  2. God of War - 9.5/10
  3. Ghost of Tsushima - 9.5/10
  4. Horizon Zero Dawn - 9.5/10
  5. Days Gone - 9.5/10

Seventh Generation (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3)

  1. The Last of Us - 9.5/10
  2. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Conviction - 9.5/10
  3. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves - 9.5/10

  1. Shadow of the Colossus. This is the only game I could say with confidence is the best I have ever played, and this is likely to remain unchanged.

Destiny 2

This is really the only game that comes to mind.

If I had to make it 5 I’d add the below, but it’s really hard to say what a “top” game is due to so many genres and games that exist

  1. Kameo (xbox 360). This was the game that introduced me to this wonderful hobby!

  2. Skyrim (on ps3). Recently I discovered that this version was the worsr version around then during that time but I didnt have any problems with it. I even managed to get the platinum! (It was also the sole reason for buying a PC gaming due to the mods and I dont regret anything).

  3. Naruto rise of ninja/ the broken bond (xbox 360 exclusive) the best anime game out there and nothing have come close to it.

  4. Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Best mario games ever to me.

  5. SOMA. this game broke me :melting_face:

mostly older stuff for me

  • Doom
  • UFO Enemy Unknow (was named XCOM in USA)
  • Lemmings
  • The Secret of Monkey Island
  • TIE-Fighter

The start of the 90s was so great for games with many ground breaking new game ideas around every corner. A top 10 would include more recent stuff like Halo, Mass Effect or Forza Horizon 4

Almost impossible to answer… but in the Greatest of All Time thread, I arrived at the conclusion that Day of the Tentacle was number one for me.

That’s still true, but then it gets trickier, especially since it’s such a diverse artform. Can a simple game like Punch Out really be fairly judged side-by-side with something infinitely more complex like Red Dead Redemption II? Their scope and achievements are so different from one another, it doesn’t seem doable.

Yet, that’s part of the fun of these lists, so here goes:
