Same here, sure it has to prove a lot but Starfield is the other big candidate…if it will come out this year. Personally I don’t see GoWR even being on the same level as far as excitement goes (in media and GOTY talk) even if I think it will be a better game than GoW 2018. Game looks too similar to the first and it has the cross-gen “stigma” if that makes any sense (not to me but you get my line of thinking).
BGS have been more GOTY darlings than FromSoft, excluding Fallout 76 which many don’t even consider BGS, and/or a cash grab 
I know, which is why I said “put them back on the map” as in go back to the days when they were the ones winning all the awards. I mentioned Fromsoft due to existing context and also meaning that their game releases the past several years have been a streak of great games hence the reliability and confidence in them from gamers and media alike, while Bethesda has lost a lot of that confidence since FO76 and perhaps to a lesser degree FO4, and Starfield is the perfect chance to redeem all that.
understandable yeah. Tbh I love GoW 2018 and Ragnarok is also on my hyped list but I don’t have a Playstation and don’t intend to get any console for the foreseeable future lol, so it just exists as something I have to admire from a distance and hope delivers. Hoping the combat is greatly expanded, maybe even new weapons, and the events of Ragnarok realized in a grand epic conclusion to the Norsa saga. But yeah, sheer scope wise, Elden Ring and Starfield are gonna be the frontrunners.

Boy those final bosses were something… talking about Radagon and the stupid elden beast, I thought Radagon was cool but he was very tricky and unpredictable, sometimes he would jump in the air going straight for my summon and then would suddenly do a 180 mid attack and come right for me instead and the damn Elden Beast moving all over the area was annoying af and much worse than Radagon, Radagon/Marika would’ve been so much better IMO but I guess what we fought was no longer the real Radagon or Marika and probably under the control of some outer god or something, now I look forward to Avowed which I’m sure will be the next great fantasy RPG after Elden Ring, hope it’s for early 2023.
TO ME . elden ring is such a dud. it’s a wet fart compared to ds2 and 3. Idk how it got such perfect scores. it’s a GOOD game, but it’s not as good as their older ones. I had to push myself to finish it. not for fun, just to get the dumb achievement. I want what the reviewers were injecting/snorting.
Just curious because I feel like you are being emotionally hyperbolic. How so? To me, it’s Dark Souls open world with a more varied and frankly objectively better, refined, combat.
And on a side note, really DS2 is better? Lol, it’s fine if you like it more, but how is it better than any of the other souls game let alone Elden Ring? I think you’re in the minority with that one.

To me dark souls doesn’t work in an open world. it’s empty with copy pasta. side answer. ds2 is the best because the levels, pvp, pve are the best in the series. my most played souls game. over 200 hrs. haven’t played in a few years, but i bet it still holds up.
Empty with copy and paste is simply false. Its just not factual. The world is filled to the absolute brim with content and dozens upon dozens of unique bosses. Hate it if you want, but you are in a HEFTY minority.

I think it’s a good game. How is it not copy and paste? Every region has the same exact things. A few caves, an elden tree boss, a knight cavalry boss, and a dragon. Out of my hundred plus hrs I didn’t use the crafting system at all. It just all feels like a half assed attempt and remember… to me, I think it’s one of the worst souls game.
This is oversimplification to such an offensively dumb degree and in bad faith that I don’t think that it’s worth responding to this with any serious attempt for conversation. Also calling Elden Ring a “wet fart” and a “dud” (but it’s also a good game lol) is a bad attempt at baiting and trolling IMO.
I’ll just say for anyone that still hasn’t played the game and plans to that the above post is pure BS…to me and I’ll leave it at that. Can’t take seriously such an opinion.

Agree to disagree. Elden Ring is one of the best games i’ve played and i’ve been pretty much addicted to it since i started. Honestly in many ways it feels closer to what i loved about Dragon’s Dogma as much as it does any Souls game. I think maybe that’s why it’s clicked with me so much. I haven’t even finished it yet, i only just reached Lyendel Capital city. Ive been doing side quests ( toward the end of volcano manor quest ) and experimenting with specs, weapons, spells, gear buffs and medallions, to maximize my damage as much as i can. Hope they put out some DLC for this sooner than later.

btw I’m SOOOO glad that crafting is not essential in this game. Don’t wanna spend my time exploring anxious about finding some dumb flower or an “rotten eye of misbegotten” or whatever bs. It’s there for those who want it or situations where you wanna do some farming, like crafting the silver foot for increased drop chance of items (great for farming enemy armor and weapons), higher rune drop on kills, run out of arrows in a weird situation and you can just craft away some arrows on the fly and get back to combat/stealth etc.

I sometimes forget crafting is even a thing. Like i’ll collect whatever items I run into as I travel but i’ll open up the menu seeing “Item Crafting” and be like Oh I guess I should use this… And I never even use it anyway.

It’s alright to not like a game that everyone else likes. What really irritates me is when people criticize the game while also saying stuff like “why do people like this game? what were the reviewers snorting?”, it just wasn’t for you lol. You can shit talk a game otherwise, thats ok, just dont question why so many people like something you don’t, it comes off as “I’m different, I have better tastes”.
