Yeah the network test confirmed it’s still summon signs. Though you can have two people with you now it seems

Heads up for those in the UK - shopto is selling a digital Xbox Elden Ring code for £41. I got my code from them today and just redeemed it on the Xbox store. Elden Ring is now pre-loading on my Series X! Oh, and then you can get 6000 points from the Xbox Rewards app for buying it, which is worth £5 of Xbox credit. Pretty decent.

And basically you can place these signs whenever you want? So let’s say I use on at the start of the game , my co-op buddy can stick around for as long as we want, travel the lands together, fight baddies and bosses?

From what I remember in the network test, you need to resummon if you die. Other than that I don’t think direct summons are location gated but I am yet to try

Looks so good. Cant wait to dive into this world and get totally lost

The hype for this game close to got to me ngl, but still can’t risk the pruchase even though I can get it for $40. A friend of mine is excited and could play it together co-op but unfortunately he’s on PS5 and the game doesn’t have crossplay, or I would’ve probably purchased it :frowning:

Game looks cool and hot af

How influential is GRRM gonna be on the lore y’all think?

he wrote the bedrock and bounced. I think the basic lore of the world and general events was outlined by GRRM and the rest of the thing was taken care of by Fromsoft themselves. I still don’t see something that characteristically GRRM in what we’ve seen and heard so far. As in ā€œwait that’s inescapably GRRM influenced, it couldn’t have been this way without him writing the loreā€, but then again I’m not that familiar with his writing to know all the things he’s inspired by and the general way he builds worlds. Maybe someone more familiar with his body of work can attest to it better.

I’m familiar with ASOIAF. He tends to build his world and stories around real world events and history. A lot of focus on social aspects, religion, pwoer struggle, lineage and family, governing and even some economics, especially those of war. A lot of his worldbuilding and history is done through dialogue and characters, with different accounts to events and facts, so there’s an aspect fhat you don’t trust everything being said as true history, there can be different in-universe history canons depending on who you choose to believe. Overall it’s a much more realistic, grounded dark fantasy. Even the magic is not actually that fantastical and is tied to religion in ways.

yep that makes a lot of sense and I can see that in his work. But I hadn’t seen that in Elden Ring is what. Maybe that’s a good thing and we’ll learn about that better while playing. But we know that he wasn’t really involved throughout the development. He was just there at the beginning and wrote the thing and gave to Fromsoft and then they took it from there.

If it helps marketing wise then it sounds fine by me even if he wasn’t all that involved. :philwins:

About that I went yesterday to the biggest videogame retail store here in Athens (that is not a big chain store that is) and asked how the game is doing pre-order wise and I was told that they were very surprised by how many pre-orders they have right now, in fact they told me that this will be the biggest launch for them for quite some time. Sure Greece is not the biggest market videogame wise but if it’s an indication of what’s to come ER will be a huge success for From! :gimme:
