Iām OK with gamers wanting an easy mode, Fromsoft willing. Iām just not on board with saying the developer needs to do it. But Minimap and questlogs just arenāt anywhere close to being necessary. Basically it sounded like the guy was just saying āmake it like Assassinās Creedā straight from easy mode availability to all the shitty open world design standards that have become emblematic of those games in the past decade, which is why games like BotW and Elden Ring are celebrated for their more freeform exploration and open world approach. And Minimap in open world games like TW3 are extremely annoying and take away so much visual bandwidth during exploration. Thereās already the Skyrim like compass line at the top for a general sense of direction, and thereās markers you can place on the map, can fast travel from anywhere outside combat. Thereās enough QoL there imo.
Quests in this game arenāt like other games, for better and worse. I do think some of the questlines are too obscure for their own good requiring weird and specific steps to do that most people donāt wanna bother with, but in general I see no need for it if itās just meant to be checklists you āmanageā like it were a chore or a job.
Good, Fromsoft absolutely deserves it, this will further cement their niche in gaming.
They do, but they need to get their technical abilities built up. Hopefully this pushes them towards that.
You know what would be great? A partnership with Xbox so they can help them with DX12 and make a game for Xbox lol.
so after 15 hour I finally got to Godrick. Kileld him my first time. Bleeding in this game is no joke. between rotten stray ashes and my winged syth combined bleed build up once he got to phase 2 I just backed away and it did the rest
Rot and Blood loss are massively broken, Iām glad I went with an arcane build lol.
bloody slash is my favorite ash of war (alongside Mighty Shot) and this is on my Keen affinity Katana, if it were Blood that scales with Arcane, boiiii itād be even more crazy
Katana + arcane is something else lol
So finished Godrick early last night and explored the next area. Decided also to switch to the anchor weapon since my strength was high enough but due to low endurance i had to unequip a lot of extra gear to stay in the medium load. But having the massive anchor smash down on enemies is nice. Just a few more points in strength and i upgrade to the sword needing 40 strength and than i will start upgrading endurance.
Currently level 34ish i believe.
Just as a heads up, try not to close the game during any important cutscenes.
I got softlocked out of the endgame area because I quit during a cutscene, so I just lost a 55 hour character until they fix it.
So just beat Godrick.
IMO heās pretty easy. I just kept dying to him in the second phase a lot and that was from his one move that is annoying af which is the fire move that he aims at the ground, I still havenāt figured out if thatās even possible to dodge or negate. I was easily getting past to the second phase every time without a single flask used and just getting helplessly fucked by the fire attacks until someone suggested just run at his ass as soon as you start the second phase and just wreck him while he keeps doing the fire breath (the dodgeable one) and I just made sure to keep somewhat of a closer distance to him so he never gets the chance to use the range moves and even if he does, be able to run under the dragon arm by the time it starts. If someone has already figured out how to evade that move even at a distance then Godrick is even more easier. His storm stomp to roll jump is so easily exploitable. He has a lot of moves like that that are heavily telegraphed and leave huge windows to just go to town on him. And he doesnāt have 5-6 attack moves that spell instant doom like Margit, Dancer, etc. Maybe the triple quake if you get caught in it, but again enough window to get out. Finally two bosses, smh lol. No idea how many more. Letās keep at it, loving the game so far.
All of a sudden this game is giving me massive Bayonetta vibes. I wonāt elaborate further lol!
This isnāt DMC or God of War. Whats there to enjoy from the combat if its ridiculously easy? Its a slow methodical combat that only works due to how the game is built on timing strategy. You arenāt juggling enemies or ripping their limbs and smashing their skulls.
I kinda agree on some things but the āeasy modeā. I am not against an easy mode, but i am kinda getting sick of people begging From to add one when theyāve already said countless times that they donāt plan to and itās their choice to add a easy mode or not and theyāve chosen not to . Youād think people would respect this by now and not say dumb shit like itās āunacceptableā to release without it yet here we are. I am starting to think itās straight up entitlement on the part of certain people at this point. There are so many āsouls-likesā out to choose to play without hassling FROM to add an āeasy modeā.
Even DMC combat ( not the high level stuff anyway) is ridiculously easy but yeah he should probably stick to games like GOW for his needs.
Youād remember more of them if you had a quest log.
Struggling to put the game down and havenāt had as much fun playing a game since the Witcher 3. Iāve been clearing out big chunks of the areas, going into fight the main bosses then clearing out more of the area and I can get where the reviewers were saying it does become significantly easier. Just finished radagan and renalla last night and they were ridiculously easy for the build and level Iām at right now. Got my health, stamina and dex at the level I wanted so now putting in points to intelligence and fp so I can create a dual class character that can mix range magic with close combat.
They are not begging they are demanding it, as you said itās purely entitlement and gamers nowadays are a lot into that. The funny thing is that we have come to a point where if you like challenge in games and/or defend higher difficulties you are painted as the elite douchebag that has no life (because it is known that if you like challenging games you are a fuckinā nerd that has no life). We already had someone in this thread saying that we pretend we like From games because we want to show offā¦
And the funny thing is that the vast majority of the well designed games that have good mechanics are elevated in the higher difficulties (Halo, DOOM, DMC, NG, RE, Gears e.t.c.) but at this point this whole āhe/she enjoyed Legendary in Halo Infinite? what a nerd and a showoff!ā stance mutes a huge part of meaningful discussion about various mechanics and systems in videogames, even in core gaming forums. It sucks but is is what it is.
