Elden Ring |OT| Rise Tarnished & Become The Elden Lord (of the dance!)

Just wanted to ask… Does game tells you were to look for the upgrades and such so that after returning we can kick ass?

Nope, it tells you almost nothing. The map pieces are the most important things to get as you can then see most of the points of interest on it.

Yep, it did.

And I actually do have a VRR display it’s just not at this place, that’s why I was the most hesitant :sob:

Edit:

I’m waiting confirmation on whether I’ll have to relocate to my old place (that has the VRR screen). I swear to God it would actually be some hilarious cosmic joke if that happens to correlate with me playing Elden Ring. Like I’ll literally hate everything about moving back, but well at least it’ll come with a smoother Elden Ring experience :sob:

Man, I was minding my own business and like 3 huge boulders came from the heavens and killed me.

You have to lure one of the giants walking around in that area and get them to hit it. It’ll break open and give you an item. I don’t remember what the item is though.

Just explore and your bound to find something… and leveling up is the best way to get stronger.

Also if you are stuck theres a lot of good guides out there

I’m just flat out approaching this game as an adventure game lol. So many amazing locations and sights, you can tell it was crafted with alot of love from the developers.

Absolutely no idea. I picked the game up digital on my PS5. I don’t have VRR on my TV and won’t till I can get an AVR with atleast 4 inputs that support all the HDMI 2.1 features I need(VRR, DV, 120hz). Still even with the plethora of issues(frame rate, frame pacing, pop in all of which I’m seeing on the PS5) it’s brilliant fun. I’ve finished off a huge chunk of the starting location bar the east side which is pretty tough and just finished the first two main bosses.

I’m a mainly magic user…

Renalla is kicking my ass. That second phase sucks. There was one time where she literally had two summons out… twice! The worst part? I almost finished her off on my third attempt…. Now I’m like 30 in. Lol

More like you will need vrr on PS5 first

That being said, it is not the end of the world. Game are still enjoyable even if frames aren’t consistent. I managed to enjoy Horizon Zero dawn on PC ( which was a huge stutter mess)

Are you up to +7 on your weapon? That is the recommended minimum for her.

Nope! I can work on that though!

Also going to work on intelligence to reduce some of that damage……

Thanks for the help!

Np, the + to your weapon is by far the most important thing for upping your damage and I’ve seen a lot of people skipping it and instead just leveling themselves. I fought that boss when I was +13 and wiped the floor with them.

I spent most of today tentatively exploring Caelid. What a wonderfully disgusting place.

I know it’s always been a staple of Miyazaki’s games for standard enemies to hit hard, but some of the regular enemies in this are just ferocious. That you now have a horse to run off on whenever you want gave FromSoft the freedom to really up the ante with the difficulty. Even hightailing it on your horse is dangerous with some of these fiendish monstrosities snapping away relentlessly at your heels. I’m level 35 with my claws at +5 and I feel like I just started the game when I come up against some of these critters.

The continued restraint the game shows in its approach to waypointing is so refreshing. Even Breath of the Wild conceded to Ubisoft towers and markers, but here there’s almost nothing. You get those vague ‘somewhere this way’ grace trails, which you forget about the moment you set off anyway, and the rest is down to exploring your surroundings thoroughly, using your telescope to get a look at stuff in the distance, and remembering information you might have gleaned from NPCs. It’s almost like Gothic or some other old-school PC Western RPG, but with way higher production values and masterful gameplay instead of Eurojank.

Very similar here. I’m not sure what’s crazier - that we’re clocking up so much time on the game already, or that after 20-odd hours we’ve unlocked, like, 3 achievements.

Caelid is a higher level zone meant for after the 2nd main area, so +5 is under half of what you’ll want when fighting there.

Started a new character, mage build.

Summary

Meteorite staff and the rock slinging gravity spell, too. We’re on easy mode now boys. :triumph:

Oh wow, I didn’t realise that. I spoke to Sir Gideon at the Roundtable who gave me the lowdown on the shardbearers, and since Radahn in the Caelid Wilds was the second one in his list after Godrick, I figured I’d go after him. I found an awesome meteorite staff with S-rank intelligence scaling in the scarlet rot swamp, so this sorcerer is glad he went there early!
