Man, I just accidentally stumbled across some elevator and it took me someplace fucking ethereal. @Doncabesa was Siofra River the area that you showed that day in the stream which I didn’t stay to see? Cuz, man. It had that Irithyll of the Boreal Valley step out moment fr. There’s a whole another world here, just got the map and it’s massive. I suspect this is where the Moose boss from the original trailer will be.
Also I suspect I shouldn’t be here yet lol cuz my attacks aren’t doing shit to the enemies.
edit: just came across that lightning orb enemy, WTFFF was that??
I came across this the other day. I absolutely love the colors and the tall giant columns in that place. The “sky” (cuz its not really one) with all the sparkles makes it really cool to look at.
Like seriously, you’ll find some cool stuff if you go out and just explore.
Last gen visuals and performance, for sure, because - surprise! - it is a last gen game. The reviewers should have marked this Xbox One game down for not looking current gen enough?
As for last gen gameplay, I’ve never really thought about gameplay as being generational - what do you regard as next-gen gameplay, out of interest?
So all us who “pretend” to enjoy the game (and previous From games) are “lying” just to “show off”? to show off what and to whom exactly? talk about a bad troll post/bait attempt…at least I hope that this is the case and you are not serious.
In no way would I say Elden Ring even appears to be current gen in terms of visuals and animations. It’s really Dark Souls 4 in a open world with reused animations too. But that’s for me based on the Network Test.
What you can read in reviews is how amazing the world really is, and for that I really need to experience it all myself first.
We agree with each other that Elden Ring looks and performs like a previous generation game (what that has to do with whether it’s a great game or not is another story) but I’m curious about this ‘last gen gameplay’ part you mentioned, and your example of Flight Sim as next gen gameplay. What’s next gen about Flight Sim’s game mechanics exactly? I played it - it seemed pretty similar to older generations of Flight Sim to me.
This game is an achievement on open-world design and exploration.
Some might not like the gruesome and hard nature of the gameplay, and that’s fair, but the game is absolutely amazingly built and a benchmark for future games from any other developer. It just keeps on giving.
I can’t comment sorry, I’m not allowed anymore to speak about a game I bought and played, but for a game like Crossfire where you had people slagging it off, despite not paying for it, much less playing it, it’s quite ok
Yeah they had to have fought that boss many many times to know his patters like that , those parries tho!
Studying that video too , to learn Margrit’s patters before i fight him.
In terms of what next gen about Flight Sim, that will be the weather and how the weather affects not only the look of the game but flight mechanics. That can only be done on the new consoles.
One of the few truly next gen experiences so far on consoles
I want to like it though. That’s what makes it strange to me. I never felt this way before with a Souls like game. Maybe because it seems more open world and non-linear? I dunno…
The network test for me felt like a Dark Souls open world, but it’s clearly a whole lot more. Without spoiling anything, can you give me some examples of things you’ve seen that make you say it’s an achievement?
Take for example BOTW, while I do feel it’s overrated and there’s plenty that wasn’t done well, the unique gameplay systems and physics really was something new and people to this day are capable of doing crazy cool things with them. What’s it for Elden Ring?
Take BOTW and add meaningful dungeons and exploration everywhere instead of puzzle shrines.
It’s hard to explain without making a wall of text, but the whole world feels handcrafted and everything has purpose on it, exploration is extremely rewarding also. Feels like a passion project.
I’m not a big fan of Souls style games, hell I’m not usual big in to most open world titles, or melee based combat either. Give me a gun anyday. But this game is magnificent, even to me
It takes a lot for a game of a genre I don’t typically enjoy to break through and capture me like this. Psyconauts 2 did it and so has Elden Ring
Now the real trick would getting me to like a true JRPG or RTS
