DC and Marvel multimedia thread (movies, games, TV shows etc)

Now that I’ve thought about it some more…I really don’t get the immense praise. There are things here that just aren’t that great. Nostalgia I get but…come on.

We have an insanely powerful wizard with Strange, yet he makes a stupid decision to carry out a poorly thought out plan and thinking twice about it. From him you expect better…but I guess they needed a reason to get the whole multiverse thing going.

But there’s positive things about this too. It was nice seeing the villains again, all the actual actors as well. Why only villains come into his world and not friendlies remains a mystery though. As for the villains, they are also underused. For example, what did they do after they left Happy’s apartment? I would have liked to see that. But we don’t.

Some characters are just downright annoying like Flash Thompson, and honestly I don’t care all that super much for Peter’s friend or even MJ, in my opinion they don’t contribute all that much. Sadly Jameson strangely was more annoying than actually cool, he was and still is cool in the Raimi movies. In terms of action it wasn’t all that spectacular, especially after the countless of previous MCU movies this was just…tame? The end battle was MEH! And the way Goblin appeared there just seemed odd…so out of the blue. All villains were dealt with, oh here’s Goblin, nah.

Other stuff…

Peter’s friend can use magic? I guess anyone with those rings on their finger can then? Peter gets smacked outside of his body by Strange, yet he’s still able to move his body, even Strange is shocked…this is never explained how this is.

The good parts I already talked about in the previous message. I’m gonna rewatch the Spidey movies in the near future and I’ll then see where I will place them but as of now I will always prefer Raimi’s two films , 3 wasn’t that great.

But this is far from MCU’S best.

I have moved on from MCU movies and I am not interested in the TV shows at all. After Endgame, I only watched Shang-chi (I liked) and Eternals (not so good - this one I watched out of boredom).

And I agree with you regarding the Tom Holland Spiderman movies - they are just so… average. I haven’t watched No Way Home yet, so can’t comment on that. Also, Tom Holland is not a great Spiderman imo.

I agree with a lot of your complaints. I am not really much of a nostalgia guy, but the movie didn’t really do much for me until the other two Peters showed up.

I think the real strength of the film is in being an epilogue to both the Raimi trilogy and the two Garfield movies. Some of the emotional beats related to those series were really good - both with respect to the Peters and some of the villains. I wasn’t aware of how much I needed some closure (especially on the Garfield series) until we got those scenes in No Way Home.

It’s kind of nuts how much No Way Home has done to rehabilitate the Garfield movies in the eyes of the public. Those two are really not great (especially the second one) - but now people are clamoring for more Garfield spiderman stuff.

The plot of No Way Home doesn’t really hold up to much scrutiny - but they managed to basically wipe the slate clean for Holland’s Peter so I guess they can do anything with the character going forward.

Personally I never had much of a problem with Garfield’s movies, they aren’t as good as Tobey’s but still found both very enjoyable and he is a good Spidey in my opinion. It’s Tom that really took 2.5 movies for me to really…grow on I guess. After…

May’s death and we see how devastated he is, that’s when I really started sympathising with him. The movie takes a more serious turn and the tone is more serious too and I like that.

Not a fan of the cookie cutter stuff…less of that please. Less of Flash who isn’t funny at all. Maybe Raimi’s Spidey had cookie cutter too but it never annoyed me, I quite liked the tone of those movies, Garfield’s too.

The last ad before The Batman already aged. Amazing.

What does this mean?

If you have seen The Batman in theater, they shows trailers before the movie begins. The last one is DC Movies releasing this year. With the latest news, the ad has aged.

It’s this one:

Ah I see. Got it.

As for Bats, still have to see it. Gonna see it with a buddy but that won’t be until end of this month.

Have fun when the time comes. I know I did. Well maybe not fun but yeah.

Doing my best to avoid spoilers. I hate how I unintentionally found out about a big happening in No way Home.

As for Batman, you didn’t have fun? Or can’t go there without entering spoiler territory?

Oh don’t worry. I loved the movie. The reason I said that is because it’s not like Marvel movies or even DC. It’s a lot grounded and serious. I usually associate fun with things that’s like comic, comedy, or summer films, but that’s just me. But do enjoy the movie.

I totally get ya.

Yeah it’s a huge plus in my book that Batman is so serious and dark.

:phil_lmao: . Actually expected . There is some kind of issue going on with VFX studios . Marvel delayed their movies few months ago . DC announcing the delay now .

This looks…yeah…

…more like a Disney Channel show from the 2000’s and not a Disney + show from the this decade?

Something must be wrong with me (j/k) because I am not nearly as blown away as many others…sadly. I wanted to love The Batman, but after having seen it I’m just nowhere near as ecstatic about it.

It’s hard to put my finger on it, because it does so many things right. The fighting is actually good, unlike Nolan’s Batman, or I should say Bale’s Batman. He himself as Batman is better too. The atmosphere is spot on. But…it felt like a dark thriller to me and not like a Batman movie, as weird as that may sound.

The batmobile is pretty much a super standard car, nowhere does it really have a unique look and the way they made one villain look…not a fan, but I get why they did it.

I definitely will go a second time, because it really feels I need to see it twice for a real proper judgement. I don’t have that often, if ever with cinema.

Thought I should give this thread a bumb seeing as I finally saw The Batman on Saturday and I really enjoyed it.

It has definitely got a different style compared to the other films and it is pretty much a detective movie that happens to be Batman. In some ways it is kind of a live action version of the animated series, so no wonder I enjoyed it lol. Also, I might need to go back and watch the other films, but the film is pretty much all Batman as Bruce Wayne is hardly in it, which kind of fits in with the theme that Batman is the real Bruce Wayne maybe.

It is a gorgeous film as well and I cannot wait to see it in 4K on my OLED.

Next week Doctor Strange, definitely looking forward to it.

I plan to watch the first one again, but do I need to rewatch Wandavision too, since she’ll be in the movie or not really?
