Cyberpunk 2077 |OT| It feels like it's taken 2077 years for this game to release (and might take another 2077 years for it to be fixed)

Oh I know but its entirely opinionated and its not exactly surprising most games stay away from this sort of thing for a reason

But this game in general has been critzed for weird things thats for sure

Do you remember the article from Rock paper shotgun last year?

The one about how CDPR continues to market towards transphobia?

I have watched a few spoiler free reviews and everything im hearing is making me want to play the game. Good thing I don’t have the Series X yet because if I did, I would put the game that I would be currently playing on hold and just play Cyberpunk 2077. LMAO. It’s going to be difficult to not at the very least just mess around with the prologue once I do get the Series X on the 23rd. Really interested in seeing what the next gen upgrade will be/do and what the expansions will be.

Was something that pissed off the creator of the cyberpunk universe so clearly they were off base and the writer of said article had to damage control for that hit piece i remember legacykillahd making a video on it it was right after e3 last year

Yea the game is getting mostly glowing reviews which i had a feeling it was gonna be fantastic

It’s currently at 91 on Open Critic with 44 reviews so plenty more reviews will be incoming over the next few days. I don’t see Cyberpunk 2077 dropping below 90 and am hoping that it can hit a 92 to match The Witcher III: Wild Hunt. That would be amazing. Now im even more hyped and looking forward to getting the Series X!!!

Yea GameSpot got trending for their lower review score probably attention they weren’t expecting

Yeah, it’s whatever. There’s always a few low scores with every major top tier game. If anything, it’s more for those sites to get more traffic and clicks in order to increase their advertising. I honestly only watch YouTubers and website wise, only GamingBolt matters to me as their scores line up with mine 85% of the time plus despite being around a long time, they’re not mainstream or anything close to it which is what I like about them.

Yea clicks are more important for people nowadays

Caution.

I’m dying to see console gameplay from someone outside of CDPR.

I see what’s happening here -

Big game is simply getting more attention (both positive and negative )

Same thing happened with tlou2. The game also attracted both positive and negative attention.

Naughty dog handled it well ( for themselves ) and i hope CDPR also remain unhinged and handle it well ( for themselves )

A lot of the criticisms in there about character selection etc are ultimately applicable to every game that released this year. And in reality aren’t discussed.

My issue with a lot of the CDPR criticism is that it becomes a little condescending at times to the culture of the studio. Its a Polish studio. You better believe there are issues over race, gender and trans rights in much of Eastern Europe. Big, big issues. And they extend well beyond Poland and are sadly quite a large part of their culture. So what exactly is expected of a studio in Poland releasing a major video game? Probably that it doesn’t reflect the political sensibilities and views of California (and I very much believe in those politics so I’m not saying this as a protestor).

And you know - games are released from studios all over the world, with different cultures and sensibilities and that is part of the huge melting pot. I like the discussion and the talk and maybe even the education but we need to be realistic what we’re asking for.

I found that polygon review at points a bit ridiculous but I sort of expected it. I’m not trivialising the issues - I just think you could and would and should find fault in virtually every single game ever made.

About the first comment i see is that they do warn about it at startup of the game. Still though, damn!

Anyone else planning on playing it on the hardest setting? I found The Witcher 3 was more enjoyable and satisfying on the hard setting as you had to actually plan most battles before jumping in. Thinking about doing the same with CP2077.

Will probably be doing the NZ trick, because I’m an impatient child :mechanical_arm:

It’s so close! I cannot believe it’s happening.
