I started over on my aging PC yesterday after dropping the game on PS5 (and waiting for my refund) and it’s amazing how better of a game this is on even older PC hardware. Played for 5 hours straight last night without bugs, crashes or graphical issues. I use the Digital Foundry 1080p optimised settings and it looks really good. Crowd density is also a huge stepup even tho it tanks my fps to the 30s. But totally worth it. Can’t wait to get back in and finish the amazing story without having to deal with the technical trainwreck that is this game on console. CDPR should’ve just released on PC first, like they did in the old days.
That is basically what I said though. The side stories with actual named and voiced characters like the ones with Evelyn, Judy, Panam, etc. are fantastic. Then you have hundreds of side gigs where you have to kill nameless bandits and then read a quick chat that sort of explains what happened, infiltrate a building with similar excuses (someone got kidnapped, get payback on an evil dude, etc.) and murder everyone, buy a car, etc… These missions have no variety between them whatsoever, and the same goes for shops, which feature like 2 lines of dialogue each and their items mostly suck.
I would have liked more variety and interactivity in these aspects, because the rest of the game is pretty damn fantastic.
Every side quest is tailor made with unique voices, texts, chats. Only police stuff is generic or random.
Even if it’s a 5-10 minutes side quest that you don’t care much, it’s still good content compared to many fed ex quest that plague other games. There is basically none in Cyberpunk. There is something to learn about the world in every single one of them.
I would have prefered longer missions and more random stuff, but these side quests are pretty good even if short.
I think those gigs are there for leveling primarily. Personally I think I’d prefer if those were removed entirely.
Sweet! Free DLC coming in early 2021.
Nice!!! Same as The Witcher 3. I wonder if CDPR will end up giving the first expansion for free especially considering the fact that it was bundled in to the Xbox One X Cyberpunk 2077 bundles back in June.
Oh that’s a interesting question if I were cdpr management i would consider it as a way of making it up to people for the mess of a launch
That’s nice. I hope there’s a lot of content coming, even though I haven’t gotten far yet it’s obvious a lot has been cut.
Yea game development is chaos i hope with the year delay if any halo infinite content was cut 343i could add it back
An excellent review/analysis of this flawed game’s brilliant story & themes. Highly recommended viewing if you have a couple of hours to spare.
WARNING LOTS OF SPOILERS!!! WARNING
Completely done with the game after about 90 hours all main story and sidequests done
Finished it last night with a little over 120 hours and a clear map, apart from the cars you can buy. I got the Star ending and will use the same save to see the others, as it seems playing through it with a different life path is pointless and adds very little to the experience.
A great-looking environment, but with little to interact with and not as immersive as they claimed. Everything looks great at a glance, but once you spend more time with it, you easily start to see the limitations. Whatever follow-ups they have planned, I suggest they keep it in NC to flesh it out properly.
A very good main story, but very short, make sure you at least do all the side jobs as well if you want to maximize your buck. The game would’ve benefitted from a more fleshed out Act 1, where, rather than giving you a montage of your V and Jackie’s exploits upon reaching NC, you actually play the game, meet the individual fixers and gangs, and develop your relationships with them.
Combat, action-wise, is fantastic. Some really cool weapons and you just feel like a bad-ass. Stealth-wise was disappointing, as there were story missions early on where, despite there being no way I was discovered, the game put every enemy on alert, so I resorted to shooting my way out. I kind of lost trust in stealth after that.
Life paths don’t change much apart from the opening intro, with the Corpo path being the most disappointing and thematically clashing choice. I’d have loved to see more substantial changes beyond dialogue choices, ranging from the basics, like a different starting apartment, to path exclusive missions/NPC’s.
The mission design is top-notch overall, no complaints and it’s the one area I hope Rockstar looks at and incorporates into their GTA/RDR franchises.
I’ve since learned that CDPR stopped describing the game as an RPG back in June, but given the game still has all the hallmarks and systems of one, we can judge them. Much like the city, they look good on the surface, but once you start actually paying attention to them, it again falls apart. There are great perks like the crafting ones, but a lot that don’t make a whole lot of sense given the usage of mods, making me reluctant to spend points on them.
Not being able to further customise your V’s appearance beyond the creation screen is a big miss, especially in a Cyberpunk game that contains a lot of NPC’s that mod themselves.
Overall, it’s still a 7/10 game for me and I have to reiterate that it in no way deserves the 9 or 10, as it received from certain publications. For every positive thing about it, there’s an infuriating negative. There are systems that have long-been solved in the games that Cyberpunk has taken inspiration from, yet are shoddily implemented here.
The bugs, glitches, NPC AI & police systems are shit, no excuses, but what kind of sums up CDPR for me, is getting something like the car radio system not quite wrong, just weirdly implemented. You have great looking vehicles (those interiors!) and awesome radio stations (Pacific Dreams for me), yet to change the station, I have to hold down the RB button and scroll up/down the list? Just map that shit to the d-pad like almost every other game that allows you to do, especially when the d-pad isn’t being used for anything whilst driving in any case!
It may have been posted already but I just saw this video.
Expected some significant downgrades, instead visually speaking it’s the exact opposite. That is really damn nice after how all that went down with Witcher 3.
Glad that I started playing now rather than wait for the XSX-version, “aiming for second half ot 2021”…
I’ll finish it once now, and then just wait a year or two for XSX-version, DLC and expansions.
Might as well uninstall my Cyberpunk and wait another full year for the next gen version.
Cyberpunk Series X and PS5 version being second half 2021 just shows neither of the Console versions were ready
At least the dude took responsibility & apologised.
I like that they’re fully commited to improving the game long term. Best of luck to them. Time will tell, but I hope they are successful.
I’ve put about 10 hrs into it over the holidays and I’m glad to play it on the Series X, I’m going to shelf it until the next Gen patch comes out and maybe some more DLC. I also hope they flesh out NPC’s and world interactions.
So far that has been a pretty big disappointment so many identical NPC’s and most only say a few words and don’t do anything.
The game will be pretty good once it is fleshed out more. I’ll wait till then
It’s an apology alright. Still not sure why they could not have made videos of last gen versions, even a couple days before release, so people could have made their own mind, instead of (un)intentionaly hiding the state of the game. They didn’t adressed that, only that the day 0 patch was troubling them i guess.
I like that they are taking the blame for themselves, the directors, instead of the studio as a whole, though. Devs have done their part, but obviously, they needed more time. It’s clear that they didn’t want to miss that december release… And here we are…Damage is done.
It’s still not clear how they will right the ship. The game needs patches, for sure, but the disappointing choices they made story wise will still be there. I guess we’ll have to wait for the free DLC and expansions to add to that and maybe make up for the cut content.
Game is good, but for me, it’s just that it feels unfinished…
Glad they are being dragged. No reason these dudes should had been considered so highly with a 1 game resume.
Blaming QA for the cyberpunk mess is gross and lacks of accountability.
