Anime and Manga Thread

yep! Promised Neverland S2 started airing last month which I only got to know towards the end of Jan lol, that’s how much Attack on Titan has swallowed up anime discourse right now that I never even knew of this second season to one of the best shows out right now. It’s very happy and chill at the start but gets super dark real fast.

Go watch it, it’s 12 episodes in the first season and 5 have released in the 2nd as of now which I shall be binging through, the tab is open right now lol

Seeing as I’m not one for depressing or horror anime, I’m really awaiting Season 2 of Mairimashita Iruma-kun ! For me, it is just full of laugh and after reading the manga, I really found all the characters pretty good.

Man I absolutely love the ant arc of Hunter X Hunter, but I’m not a fan at all of the stuff that has me saying “PAUSE”, stuff that is seriously off.

We have Hisoka with his…how to say…very,VERY off comments about a kid, the kid being Gon. But now Palm too. It’s clear that they try some comedic stuff in these parts but I don’t see the humor at all. Very off and how the hell are people shipping Gon and Palm? Jeez.

I remember a psychologist did a video on Hunter x Hunter about how most of Gon’s friends are not in his age group unlike other Shounen anime.

There is no shipping in this story, all the perceived shipping are jokes thrown by the author.

Hmm, they may be jokes but man…how Hisoka acts towards the two boys at times is just plain wrong, lol. I saw some folks on other sites say that exciting fights just give Hisoka a high, seeing the “fight” the energy that these two boys display excites him. Partly true.

In one scene, standing nude in water he tells Gon and Killua that they have grown more and more appetizing, Jesus bro. In a later scene he walks behind Gon and Killua and clearly eyes their behinds, then the two ask him to walk in front, nah fam. But Palm is just as bad probably. She’s what…20-25? Gon is 12?

It doesn’t take away from my enjoyment though, awesome arc, great anime. Is the older version worth it too? I’m watching the 2011 one.

2011 version is closer to the manga but some parts like Yorknew city arc are better in the 1999 version.

Although I say it follows the manga, there are some differences. First is that the Kite introduction scene where he met Gon in Whale Island happened in chapter 1. Secondly remember that Gyro backstory from episode 78-79? He became a chimera ant and then became independent of the queen of his own will. This panel was not shown in the anime.

Hisoka is 100% a creep and I’m pretty sure that’s supposed to be obvious. I don’t think it’s young children he’s attracted to though, but more so anyone brimming with potential/power.

I know he has a big fanbase, but the dude is a villain through and through.

Im just here vibing enjoying The Quintuplets season 2 because thats the kind of stuff I need in my life. Watching some Danmachi season 2 also.

I thought so at first too. That he just had a very strange way of saying things, but that one scene where he clearly is looking at their butts…yeah I’m out, lol.

That being said, I am at 125 now. If I keep this up I’ll finish it this week. And then it’s on to Attack on Titan. I only ever watched the first season and then had to wait several years for season 2, never got around to that. Is the anime done now finally?

Not yet

Oh, shit. That’s unfortunate.

Surely this year though?

It seems that season 3 will adapt most of the content and from what Ive read they may close it out with a movie.

Oh, there goes my hope of being able to watch it all now. I might decide to hold off until it’s all there.

season 4 you mean haha

final season going on. I suppose they will do what they did with Season 3 and break it up into two parts. I’ve heard the movie rumors as well but I suspect it’ll be the former. So, Season 4 part 1 going on right now if we go by that.

Are you only watching anime that have been completed?

Btw, guys, is anyone else watching Wonder Egg Priority? It’s been airing since Jan, and I just watched the first episode, looks really good!

Preferably yes, I really don’t like waiting a week for a new episode, especially when there’s even filler too. There are exceptions, I now and then do watch One Piece.

lol One Piece has definitely affected your outlook on anime for sure, these long form anime all have a lot of filler cuz they come out every week, but AoT doesn’t have any filler, straight meat and potatoes (no pun intended). There’s been a total of around 50 episodes or something, that’s all and it’s already final season. Compare that to One Piece or Bleach or Naruto and the like with their episode counts going in the upper 500s of course you’d find a lot of filler in them haha.

But I get what you mean, I don’t like waiting every week either, but I just couldn’t survive online getting blasted with spoilers for this show from the asshole manga readers and trolls even in the least expected places so that’s why I’m staying updated regularly lmao.

Hahaha, true that. One Piece is nutso when it comes to that. I mean…is it ever ending?

But One Piece wasn’t the only one that got me a little hesitant to watch ongoing anime. I had the same when I was watching Naruto and Shippuden and some of those ridiculously long filler arcs before it got back to Canon. I started to imagine how absolutely horrible it must have been for people following it every week. Crazy.

As for AoT. I remember a few years ago watching the first season and I so badly wanted to see what happened next and then it was like a wait of two years before S2 even arrived? But it does sound like it will end this year, so that’s good. Alright, back to HxH!

same, I stopped watching One Piece around the Punk Hazard arc, realized shit was getting milked beyond necessity and the pacing was too slow, which grew my affinity to shorter shows and have only been gravitated towards the short ones from then on. Same happened with Naruto during Shipuuden. Hunter X Hunter was probably the last anime I watched that has more than a hundred episodes and even that is on a hiatus now. Other that that yeah, my preferred anime have largely been the shorter ones (10-50 episodes).

Yeah, it took YEARS for the second season to come. Even I only got back into the show like last year or something. There’s a reason why another studio is doing the final season, the previous studio just couldn’t do it in the shorter span of deadline the final season has gotten, it’s unfortunate but at least the writer is fully on board with the anime’s making, and it’s not a FMA or Game of Thrones type situation.

However, I don’t expect AoT to end this year. As I said, they might split it into parts and take a mid season break and release the second half next year. But we’ll see, we’re close to the 12 episode mark now. We’ll get to know soon.
