Anime and Manga Thread

Dungeon Meshi just got released on Netflix, and someone put the German voice actor for Marcille’s dub over the English voice actor’s dub, and the results are surprising.

This I will be on the lookout for.

Aight. Watched all of the Ghibli movies now. Some very good ones, but also some not so great ones. I would say that definitely not everything that Ghibli touches is magic. However, most of what Miyazaki made is definitely good.

Now it’s time for Paprika.

To get my mind off things as of late, anyone following Weekly Shounen Jump? This week there is going to have a brand new series alongside another new series starting next week as well. A Failed veteran and a Newcomer.

• Choujun! Choujo Senpai by Numa Shun (Samon-kun wa Summoner). A comedy most likely, however i can be suprised so i will wait for it once its out.

The main characters of new series on the right side of the preview image.

• Dear Anemone by Matsui Rin (Black Milk). Don’t know what to make of this yet, so am holding judgment until next week once the official first chapter is out, however based on image preview alone got me interested enough. image

What are your takes on this?

My take is Blue Box is still going, which pleases me.

I’ll wait for the others.

One Piece

Finished Reverie, which was quite short since I fast forwarded all the flashbacks, I mean my memory isn’t that bad, lmao.

The new arc! Yes, that new/improved visual style and animation is quite something. The deeper colors and thicker lines really stand out.

Gonna watch the latest Demon Slayer movie in the cinema in a few hours.

Edit: didn’t realize people were already discussing it in the community hangout thread.

Finished Attack on Titan

Not sure why I disliked The final Season so much initially. Second watch I really dug it a whole lot more.

As for the ending…

For a second I thought they would pull the “Young Eren saw via the attack titan what the future would be.” and so that everything that had occurred, had not really. But this wasn’t the case, which I’m glad it isn’t. Would have been way too easy, a cop out I guess?

Basically Eren just turned into a complete mad man, genocide can never be condoned. Not sure I like Armin basically saying he will see him in hell. Only because he notified him of the outside world? It probably was to have Eren feel a bit better.

And then during the credits we see that humanity basically hasn’t learned shit. I find it a very realistic outcome.

Why is the ending so controversial, for the fanbase?

Instead of that hell line, in the manga Armin says to Eren " thank you for becoming a mass murderer for us". That after credits thing was never in the initial ending and was added after 3 months. They basically changed and added small things here and there in the anime which made it much more digestible.

Aaah, I see. Was the ending fine for you?

I did read that a new chapter apparently is coming this year which might give a “better” ending.

initially? eh. Its basically Code Geass ending but executed worse. The addition of after credits pages in the manga did improve it for me.

I dont think there are any more new chapters coming. The writer retired.

Just watched the first episode of Sand Land and I really like it. Likeable characters and beautiful animation. It’s 3D but good 3D, it at times reminds me of Borderlands.

Just started a new manga called: I Used High Level Medicine To Counter Magic. Currently reading it on a site for free and hoping to find the Manga on Amazon or another service later, as I’m really enjoying it so far.

It basically is the same as all Isekai, guy(Amami) dies/gets transported and ends up in a fantasy world. Amami though doesn’t get incredible powers or abilities, he’s doctor that loves his job and wants to help anyone he can.

In this world only humans have healing magic, which they state was given to them by God.

One plague later and humans go from being at the bottom of the food chain to the top. Become the most numerous and hording the secrets of healing magic.

I watched a few minutes of this, tomorrow I’ll watch the rest. But I had no idea that the man did so much else next to Dragon Ball, wow.

Does anyone know where to watch the persona 4 anime in Australia? Now that Funimation is gone there’s no way to watch it anymore

Whenever I can’t find some things on available streaming services, I just go for the websites such as Goku, Zoro etc.

Someone a while ago here recommended Spy x Family. I started with it last week and I’m done with season 1. This is just a lot of fun. It’s not dark, it’s not too serious overall, there’s comedy and it’s just FUN.

In two weeks there will be a movie of it in the cinemas and I will definitely check it out.

Dandadan is fantastic. That perfect mix of weird/goofy and serious/stunning visually that only this medium can bring. Episode 7 was such a freaking emotional rollercoaster after it was so weird/funny the previous one.
