Probably their marketing deal. It is the only thing that would give rise to a commitment for a specific number of games.

There’s a strong chance to happen unless the contract says no Game Pass day one. But we’ll see. It would be great for them to take a break after 2023 CoD and then 2025, new and exclusive CoD.

That would be a situation in which MS would be willing to break a clause, unless the buyout is a ridiculous number like $500m or something.

Hopefully there’s a possibility for MS to buy out the remainder of the contract.

I have a suspicion this would also mean cod can’t come to GamePass until after the Sony marketing deal expires which sucks for us.

Even if they don’t go into Game Pass day one, Microsoft can offset that by charging less to buy the game on all platforms. Since Game Pass is $10 a month, they could sell COD 2022/2023 for $10 each and say, we’re sorry for Activision ripping all of you off for the last decade plus. Of course, they wouldn’t say that but I wouldn’t be surprised if the price gets reduced drastically for launch.
