Well, I finished Planet of Lana. Good game, a bit too many slow walking sections perhaps. Beautiful game though!

Achievement wise it sucked ass. I hate no-death achievements, it either ruins the first playthrough by making you being overly careful/reading guides/quit-save scumming or requires more playthroughs. Either is boring af so I chose to not go for the completion.

The “cat” is very cute though, so I forgive them.

Boring game with bad rng for late game farming to finish challenge achievements. Wouldn’t recommend this game. Ni No Kuni 1 is a much better game.

Completion #125 :achievement:

Well, this wasn’t planned but since I’m goin through smaller games from Game Pass anyway and this popped in the other day, why not? Very simple and dumb, yet also rather clever game. Fun and short completion!

Hospital visit was a success and I got released after only 2 weeks after major surgery. I didn’t even get a chance to fire up my Steam Deck, haha.

This was the perfect game for relaxing to with very simple mechanics for climbing and exploring. I just enjoyed my time with it then moped up the last of the achievements using chapter select. Nice wee game to play in between the mammoth games released this year.

Completion #126 :achievement:

The quest to shrink the Game Pass backlog continues! This was a great game with a good flow through the levels and chapters, beautiful and emotional and a fun completion. Missed a few collectibles due to progressing some levels too far with no way back but chapter select with multiple checkpoints per chapter is available after finishing the game so it was an easy mop-up.

Finished Chants of Sennaar. In a normal year this could have been the Puzzle Game of the Year but we have 2023 and it doesn’t even make the top 3 :smiley:

You have to reach the top of a tower here and in the process reunite the different castes/societies living in this tower by understanding their different languages. You start not knowing a single glyph or word but can figure out more and more of the meanings from talking to people, scripture or environment storytelling. The deduction system is similar to Obra Dinn, maybe a bit easier. It also reminded me a bit of the manual in Tunic. Its overall very well designed and has a good (art)style reminiscent of Mobius.

So you may ask if this is like the puzzles in Tunic or Obra Dinn, why is this not even in the top 3 of the best puzzle games of the year? Well, it has some unesseccary backtracking, is lacking a map and has some completely out of place stealth sections. Less would have been more here. At least these sections are short.

Overall I can recommend it to anyone who has already completed Talos II, Cocoon, Entropy Centre, etc. this year and is looking for a nice puzzle game. You will have 10-12 hours of fun :+1:

Completion #127 :achievement:

Very good game. The climbing is fun, varied environments and challenges, good amount of collectibles with a decent chapter select once the story is done. Kinda wish they had some more checkpoints put in there though to load from.

I would have rated the game even higher if there was more to the story, the letters and logs give some nice background but I would have liked to know more. Chill game, much recommend.

That’s another small Game Pass game completed, been about ten in a row now so starting to feel the urge to jump back into the backlog for some bigger fish. Ancient Greece is calling to me…

I probably more or less agree with the Xboxera review. I may have been slightly annoyed if this wasn’t on GP. I enjoyed my time with it and yadda yadda, but I do think it would have been better off as what was intended, flashback sequences in LAD8.

The ending really did hit me hard though, I wasn’t just teary eyed, I was full on crying and gasping. Been playing these games for just over 7 years and it really made me realize how long that’s been and how connected I am to these characters. Never would have thought that funny Yakuza game I decided to load up on PCSX2 in 2016 would do that to me someday. Full praise to RGG for their masterful writing.

It certainly did work to make me very intrigued to play LAD Infinite Wealth though I’m still gonna hold off on that because of the $90 CAD price, P3 Remake will hold me over lol.
