Achievement Hunting |OT| Every point counts

Just a friendly reminder that there’s another 6 hours or so left in our poll and Disney Dreamlight Valley and Immortality are in a deadlock.

Not my fault. It only let me vote for Disney Dreamlight Valley once…

Completion #51: Soul Hackers 2 :achievement:

Man did I love this game! It’s so nice to finally have Atlas supporting Xbox again and their first game since coming back to Xbox is just amazing! The writing in the game is top notch, it has so much character and personality, and both the English and Japanese VA’s knocked it out the park giving great performances. Atlas did an amazing job with creating the main character especially, Ringo, she’s just oozing personality right from the beginning. She’s no self insert main character, she is definitely the star of the show here. For anyone who is unaware, Soul Hackers 2 is a turn based game, but the mechanics have been made really streamlined compared to previous Shin Megami Tensei games and I’d argue the most welcoming for new players. It is more streamlined, though the game is no walk in the park by any means and has a fair bit of difficulty, especially on the higher difficulties. The music is top notch as always form Atlas with a wide range of songs. My only issues is the dungeons in the game, they are not amazing and some are just down right infuriating to get through the first time, this is the one area of the game I found lacking in all honesty and it seems this is where they decided to save some of their, not so large, budget on. As for anyone who’s concerned about not having played the previous Soul Hackers, or Shin Megami Tensei games in general, Soul Hackers 2 is stand alone and no prior experience is needed to enjoy the story to the fullest. If you had any interest on the game but were unsure about it I say it’s well worth your time, it’s not the best game ever made, it shows that it was on a budget, and it is a turn based JRPG that not as many people like nowadays, but if for nothing else the writing in Soul Hackers 2 is amazing and well worth playing the game for!

Sounds pretty cool, hope it comes to Game Pass then I’ll give it a try.

Hey, I voted for Metal: Hellsinger.

Honestly I think that’d be a big boost for the game, getting more eyes on it especially with Persona 5 coming next month. Getting more Xbox users to try Atlas’ games given it’s been so long.

By the narrowest of victories, Disney Dreamlight Valley is our Gamepass game of the month for September!

Did you have the special edition DLC? I’ve read that the EXP booster DLC or whatever it is majorly cuts down the completion time.

I’m already playing it and having a blast, but it’s a terrible achievement list. Most will take hours of gameplay.

Thanks, NASA!

Yeah, it’s definitely a terrible list.

I did have the DLC but I only used it on my 3rd run through to mop up a few things. If you wanted to you could probably get complete the completion done in 8-10 hours if you skip all the story and use the exp booster.

Looks like I’ll be skipping out on this months game lol, that achievement list killed it for me

Just get the one for taking pictures. I have a feeling most people will only have it in them to get that one.

Completion #107 :achievement:

First of all, incredible game. Fantastic even. I thoroughly enjoyed it and like I’ve said before @Doncabesa s review is spot on, a very rare 10 from me too.

Completion was tough, I’ve watched and rewinded so much I know this game inside and out haha. But it was great, felt like a real hunt to find all the clips and scenes. Some good old proper achievement hunting at its best and most fun. Awesome!

Completion #52: The Forgotten City :achievement:

This was certainly a interesting game to say the least. I don’t want to spoil too much but I’ll give the basic premise. You find yourself by an ancient Roman ruin leading to an underground city where you are trapped. You then find a portal and are thrown back in time 2000 years and discover if anyone sins then the everyone living there will be punished by a god and be turned to gold. You’re tasked with trying to find out who’ll sin and how to stop them, but it’s futile and someone will eventually sin and the punishment is enacted, though when that happens you will loop back in time starting the day over and over again until you discover a way to stop it. What is and what isn’t a sin isn’t obvious at times and even if you don’t sin eventually someone else will. The game gets very deep at times and the story can take a crazy turn after crazy turn at times, and it has four endings with varying degrees of difficulty to obtain. It has a good story and is worth playing without a guide, but there is a great guide up on TA with both a legit walkthrough and a faster method using in game cheats too for a faster completion if you are looking for that instead.

Completion #53: Second Extinction :achievement:

Finally decided to sit down and mop up the last few achievements in this game. The game itself is kind of just mindless dino shooting fun, especially when you got friends you’re playing with, but that’s really all it has going for it. To be fair it is only in game preview so it’s hard to judge it too harshly especially since the gameplay loop is decent. Some of the achievements are just a slog to get though and are a pain, loved throwing myself off a cliff for two hours for the 100 respawns achievement . If you’re interested in playing the game friends are a must cause solo play gets really old really fast, the game lives and dies by the friend factor in my opinion. Oh and the game does have its full launch this October so maybe it’ll be much better by then, no clue if the full game will be in Game Pass. I’d assume so but honestly I’m not sure.
