I think it was okay, the combat was pretty fun. I didn’t really pay attention to the story or talk to people in the fort. My play time was 44 hours. I was surprised that people were still playing the game too.
Ok cool, 44 hours is alot less than the TA time but that’s never been reliable I guess lol.
I think that time is inflated because on the guides they say to use free play to do world events to help with gear challenges but I found quick play to be way faster. Sometimes the game puts you into an mission that’s just about the end and you get progress. Also helps with the loyalty achievements.
I actually had fun with this game. It’s definitely an “early access” game with a lot of areas to improve upon, but the core gameplay loop was satisfying enough and the game is overall pretty easy.
Nevermind, they unlocked when I restarted the game, lol. How can this still happen in 2021?
@CallMeCraig, Silly decisions from the Microsoft of that time.
They had entirely new teams for the Xbox One Achievements, that had not worked on the systems from the X360. Just like the Party Chat system was entirely rewritten for Xbox One by team that had not worked on the previous system. There’s stories and articles about this kind of thing but might be harder to find today close to a decade later.
I understand this happened a lot 2013 after Microsoft changed the achievement APIs and OS part of it. But by now 7-8 years later they should have best practices handy to avoid stuff like that. Its super strange.
Edit: ok, i just read up on this stuff (why did i do this to myself?) and its worse than i expected. On 360 devs unlocked achievements by calling a OS entry point (reasonable). On Xbox One Microsoft changed this to some ‘cloud powered’ system. Which of course every dev hated, because now they have to manage http error codes, offline vs. online achievements and so on themselves. In 2016/2017 after lots of feedback Microsoft changed back to direct API calls.
Still think it’s crazy that achievements are server based, it’s not like people can access profiles from Xbox One or Xbox Series to hack them anymore.
Oh, entirely. It shouldn’t happen at all now. At least it’s mostly “self healing” where all it takes is for a restart to get unlocked.
I recall in 2013-2014 how so much of the Xbox Support forums being packed with achievement unlock issues and how widespread the issues were.
I agree with Zonky, it’s crazy what they spent time on redoing when X360 was such a solid experience for the core. I am curious how much time was spent on these new systems and how much additional time was needed to productionize/ruggedized them. Imagine if they kept the prior systems in place and instead put efforts towards BC far earlier or refine the Snap to be PictureInPicture instead or anything else requiring development efforts.
Seems like a really overengineered system to me what they did in 2013. The newer 2016/2017 system is more like everyone else does it. But we lost achievement challenges on the way.

Every GamerScore earned from now until next Monday 06:20 AM (UTC) will count towards week 53’s ranking. Every GamerScore earned until Oktober 1, 2021 06:20 AM (UTC) will also count towards Septembers Ranking.
Don’t forget that this topic is first and foremost destined to talk about all your achievements and trophies, discuss completions and even try to gather people for a boosting session! The ranking is just a side activity to take part in.
Good luck everyone and happy hunting!
I think it seems like a pretty fair change.
Mods are still allowed if they are fully in-game. I think that makes sense.
Minecraft game save sharing community in the mud.
So… as someone who hasn’t used any cheats, which games are now ok to use the “fast” methods? Are there any lists somewhere? Not sure I want to even step into this minefield lol.
Lol. Basically anything that doesn’t require use of external tools or scripts is fine. So Surviving Mars is fine as mods can be accessed in game. I think that Starbound game is an example of what isn’t allowed. If a game mod isn’t allowed, the game’s page will have a warning.
Ah ok, good. Since this discussion started I have found a few games I am not interested in playing at all where I wouldn’t say no to free GS I’ll just have to check carefully first.
You’re fine as long as you only interact with the game itself. Console commands accessed within the game and mod browsers within the game are still good.
It’s only an issue if you plan to be included on their TrueAchievements website. It’s not like Xbox is policing GamerScore as long as you’re not abusing their API or Profile systems.
