Yakuza / Like A Dragon |OT| That's Rad!

Seems like Yakuza 8/LAD 2 will be the next game and we’ll see it next year.

Indeed. Pretty interested and excited to see how they continue Ichiban’s story.

Just beat the super boss from Lost Judgment yesterday. Way easier than the one from Judgment. Not gonna bother with the super version, since it seems like there’s a lot of restrictions on it and the reward isn’t worth it to me.

You can miss so much of this game if you dont do the School Stories. Is it really optional?

Kinda but not really? Its a neat storyline tho.

Yeah, you can finish the game without doing any of the School Stories aside from the initial introduction to the MRC. Crazy how much content is hidden beneath the surface. Lost Judgment is high up there in terms of side content out of all of RGG’s games.

Finally hit the credits on Lost Judgment with 82~% completion. Really enjoyed it! Now the long wait for Yakuza 8 begins…

The drone felt like a pretty big part of the first Judgment but it’s hardly ever used in this game.

Not too long hopefully - they’re revealing it next year, right?

Like a Dragon gets better and better. It feels great to finally get into Yakuza after the combat killed my previous attempts. After wondering if the game would ever really open up, I’m now kind of overwhelmed in the best possible way by the amount of stuff to do and mechanics to experiment with. The constant Pokemon and Dragon Quest references are wonderful too. Like, they just took the JRPG motif and went wild with it. Earlier I noticed that one of the Sujimon does this falling backwards hammer move just like the hammerhood from Dragon Quest. Shaping up to be the best JRPG since DQ XI.

Just beat Lost Judgment… oh mannnnn, that finale. 11/10.

Yeah, for sure. It’s not the only mechanic that got toned down quite a bit.

Indeed. I think we see Yakuza 8 revealed next year, with a release either late 2022 or early 2023. Very interested to see what direction they take with Ichiban next.

Do we think they’ll call it Like a Dragon 2?

Nah. Don’t think it’ll be Yakuza 8 either (at least in the west). They might go with some new subtitle.

LAD spoilers: I think it’s possible they might even drop the Yakuza name. After all, the Tojo and Omi disbanded, yeah? It’s possible the focus shifts entirely away from the Yakuza. Or maybe not. We’ll have to see what happens. I don’t think it’ll be titled LAD 2, but perhaps they’ll use Like a Dragon as the new name for the series, with some new subtitle.

They will call it Yakuza 8: Like a Dragon 2: Black Panther.

I guess there was still some Droning but it was mostly done by Tsukumo. I’m ok with that outsourcing since I was never super hot on the drone.

Some insane coincidence hit me when I was walking my dog tonight. Was thinking about Lost Judgment since I had wrapped it up a few hours prior and came across this:

Summary

If anybody is looking for skill books in Lost Judgment and can’t get anywhere, I managed to find the last 3 I was missing. Two are from walking the dog in specific locations in Yokohama and Tokyo and a third is from a gauntlet, Air Yagami.

I think that makes sense but marketing wise they probably won’t do it. It’s a good name for a word that everyone recognises. I guess they’ll just drop the numbers from now on and add a sub name to go along.

Just wrapped up Lost Judgment. It seems like this will be the last Yakuza game us Xbox users get for at least a year so it’s bittersweet to finish the game. LJ easily has the best combat in the entire series and it’s easily in my top 3 alongside Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Like a Dragon.

Damn, I made a terrible mistake after my first game over in Like a Dragon. Chapter 7 boss wiped Ichiban juuuust as I’d got him down to a sliver of health - my first game over of the game. So I was like, 70,000 yen to retry? Hell no! I’ll just reload the autosave.

…Then discovered the last autosave was about an hour previously. Wow. I figured it was autosaving all through the dungeon. Is this a feature of Yakuza games I should be aware of?

Thankfully I adore the game so much I’m happy to re-do the last hour, a chunk of which was a story scene anyway. Any lesser game and I’d be calling it quits.

I made a similar mistake when i played LAD too. It’s not very clear so it’s an easy mistake to make.

Just finished Lost Judgment

So satisfying and sad when a game one has been looking for is over. Clocked in like 70 hours and it was worth it all the way.
