Yakuza keeping the bad luck with their detective actors.
I think Im close to the end of Yakuza 5, dam this journey is almost over. Just one game leftā¦
If true, japanese people really make no sense some times.
I canāt stop laughing at this
I read up a bit on the actor and the agency. I was struck by a kinda fuzzy memory:
I went to Japan for a while in 2016. When I first got there, I met another US person, who was really really into this kind of personality, Gackt and stuff. She dragged me and some friends to Harajuku to an honest-to-god Johnnyās store (The talent agency). And she spent actual money buying paper pictures and posters of boy band members and such. She was so happy, that was like number one on her to-do list when visiting Japan. Iām not making fun of her, itās really great that she was able to get so much pleasure out of it. I guess that what seems like an extremely stupid and archaic practice to me might be lucrative enough to be worth enforcing this grey silhouette nonsense.
I just started Judgment this weekend, and itās fun so I hope it can continue. Iām totally okay with switching actors like they did with Tanimura, and I do hope that they could bring the games to PC eventually, so they can get a wider audience and the studio can get more money.
My total lack of business knowledge makes me wonder what would happen if Microsoft acquired Sega and their āfirst-party games go on PCā policy conflicted with this weird hangup about PCs the talent agency has.
I hope this doesnāt end the series if they canāt agree. Please sega just cast Sayama as the new lead protagonist. Its time for a female protagonist. She is perfect for this franchise.
Good shout, sheās an awesome character and I was expecting her to have more involvement in Kiryuās saga, but they just left her in the States!
Getting dates with handsome American cops and texting Kiryu when he entrances enough hostesses. (not really a spoiler)
Just startd Judgment and I am sad this game doesnāt support quick resume. The qquick resume feature helped me go through the yakuza series easily
Just finished Chapter 6 of Yakuza Like a Dragon and put about 22 hours in to the game. The game is fun but unlike other games I enjoyed, its not the story thats the strong suit.
Things I like:
- RPG elements like personality traits, Jobs etc.
- Combat is fresh and fun. This is by far the biggest change which kept me going
- Mini games are fun. They are simple but really fun and I cant wait to finish all of them.
- Ichiban is a goof and I like that about him
Things I dont like
- After Chapter 2 the story just goes nowhere. Its soo weak and the main motivation for the group to get soo attached and be loyal to this certain character who is there for one scene makes no sense and I couldnt get attached emotionally to the story.
- Some of the story beats do get old and become very familiar to previous yakuza games
- The new city is big but it felt lifeless and empty compared to the wonderful kamarucho.
Overall really having fun getting lost in the world due to combat and mini games but does the story get any better?
Is there a bit more to the story other than this pointless war between 3 factions? Also didnt make any sense that Ichiban would care so much about this war in this city and he has no connection to them what so ever?
I agree about the story in the middle, but it gets good and then ends great imo.
Just finished Like A Dragon and Iām pretty sure it would be my game of the year for 2020. Turning it into a turn based JRPG was a great move.
Itās funny but looking back at the previous games is so obvious it should have been an rpg.
The humor, story, side missions, etc. Just perfect.
On Yakuza 0, I have bought all of Majimaās unlocked abilities and thereās only the Locked abilities left. Is there a way to unlock them? If they come later and that constitutes a spoiler donāt say it
Have you met the training masters? You can learn skills via them.
Just finished Yakuza 0 on hard. Last battle was really hard, but I was able to do it. Man, what a game! Till the last second, the action sequences were blowing my mind with how epic they were. Such a memorable game, with many, many amazing characters, great writing and a story that is able to stay serious while the gameplay is bonkers, funny and outright crazy.
I absolutely loved this game and I canāt wait to continue with this series. Blows my mind that there are so many of them too, and all of them on Game Pass (as well as Judgement, of course, but that isnāt on Game Pass yet). Will go back to before the point of no return to wrap up any secondary stuff, after that will probably take a short pause (also there are many Game Pass games coming soon), and then straight to Yakuza 1.
Also, this game revitalised my enthusiasm to study Japanese and Iāve been keeping up with my studies regarding that. Hopefully I will keep motivated and at the very least I have so much material to play and learn the language in the future
Yakuza helps me a lot with my japanese studying, ććć°ć£ć¦ļ¼ļ¼
Started Yakuza 4 today. The game looks quite clean, I have to say. A noticeable improvement from Yakuza 3 in terms of visuals as well as gameplay. And Akiyama is great.
Do the fighting styles Brawler/Rush/Beast remain the same in future game for Kiryu? I used mostly Brawler for Yakuza 0, but might change things up for the next entries to keep things fresh.
Awesome!!
No. They only return in Yakuza Kiwami. All the other games only contain one regular fighting style for Kiryu. 4 and 5, however, have 4 and 5 playable characters respectively, each with their own fighting style (one in 5 doesnāt fight, but the others do).
