Outer worlds 2 release sort of snuck up on me. I’m sure I will end up with the dlc at some point but pretty busy this weekend and also want to finish the monkey island game before it leaves game pass. Since I can’t use the early release time I think I’ll wait a little. Hope you all enjoy though, it looks great!
Hidden Cats in Spooky Town +1
Great game for playing whilst listening to podcasts! Seasonal theme was nice.
Finished Powerwash Simulator and all its DLCs, the latter counts towards backlog since I bought those. That counts for something, right?
Now it’s on to the actual backlog.
Not Monday, but close
Time for an update! The week of DLC’s it seems, both positive and negative. Keep up the good work, everyone.
The Leaderboard:
If anyone is considering playing the Grinch Adventure game, just don’t bother.
+1 the original delisted version I bought when it came out thinking it would be a fun holiday game to play when the younger family members.
+0 The new version that’s in game pass that includes the dlc that just came out for the version you can’t buy any more.
I was hoping they had made improvements in the updated release, but it’s mostly just more of the same (plus another 6 levels though most of these seemed longer than the original levels) with some new mechanics added to the new levels. The first 18 levels are all exactly the same as the original release. It’s obviously a kids game but I think it’s a mix of too much telling you what to do (I swear it says hop when you hop) and then annoying stuff to get caught on / enemies that are dumb but also move unpredictably at times, and hiding animations that take 5 or 6 seconds and you don’t know if you’ll be seen immediately or not. At some point once you grow your heart it becomes pretty easy to just run away. There’s no point in collecting all of the presents (which have random numbers on every level and you don’t know until the end if you found them all), but you need all the puzzle pieces to unlock upgrades by putting them together. It’s not absolutely terrible but it was not great either.
Thought I’d share my October activity. (Another pretty slow month, I guess.)
Already shared South Park earlier - the only game that counts for the challenge.
Indika (PS+) is an interesting “walking simulator.” A bit on the slow side sometimes, but the setting is something different and graphically impressive.
Sniper Elite Resistance (GP) is… more Sniper Elite. I’ve always enjoyed these games. Really nothing new here, though, apart from the main protagonist. (Who seems a bit off to me. Don’t know if it’s the look or the voice - something just doesn’t feel quite right. It’s a minor complaint, though.)
The Callisto Protocol (PS+) is a decent “Dead Space like,” padded with an annoying amount of crawling through vents and squeezing through gaps at a snail’s pace. It sometimes felt like a 5 hour game stretched into 10 hours. It does get a bit better in the second half, though. Some of the boss fights were a bit frustrating, even on easy. But overall it’s just about worth a playthrough.
Flipping Death

+0 Return to Monkey Island
Classic style adventure game, amusing story, having not played the originals I didn’t love the player character but it seemed to be intentional that way. Could wish they made the trivia cards easier to find because that took the last few days to finally get the last one I needed. Also I wish it was easier to skip dialog (especially after I’ve seen it a few times). Good writing though and it had an ending I wasn’t expecting
Tuesday is the new Monday? Nah, sorry about the delay. Not much action this past week, but a couple of completions at least. Keep at it!
The Leaderboard:
Finished Stick it to the Man yesterday, this was the second time because I finished it back in 2020 too. But after I had just finished Flipping Death which is by the same studio, I was in the mood for more similar games. Not sure if I bought this back then or if this was Games with Gold. But let’s just say it doesn’t count, because I didn’t obtain it this year.
Next up is absolutely Mafia: The old Country. Haven’t even installed it since we bought it in August, but I’m definitely in the mood for it now. I aso finally installed Alan Wake 2, now to actually finally start it up. But you gotta be in the mood for that genre.
I thought Mafia did a really good job setting the tone, hope you enjoy!

Because I bought A boy and his Blob for €4 ![]()
-2 Outer Worlds 2 deluxe from extra life stream.
Couldn’t pass this one up even though I don’t know when I’ll start.
*+1 - The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker (GCN) - Confession time… I’ve owned Wind Waker on GameCube since the day it was released and I never beat it. I progressed to the final phase of the game where you had to sail for hours to get the stupid Triforce charts, which then led to finding the Triforce pieces (absolutely terrible padding that yet again reviews at the time handwaived away). Ironically, I bought Wind Waker HD on Wii U (I still own it and the Wii U hardware it came with), and I made it through that far-superior version in six months. The less said about the final phase of the original version, the better and for that alone I give the game a 7/10 (it’s great for the most part but had some abysmal design decisions that people glossed over… because Nintendo, and I’m sorry but the padding of the final portion of the game is atrocious.)
Also, yes this is using my original copy and save file from over 20 years ago
*-1 - Arc Raiders (XSX) - I picked this up after watching a few gameplay videos and I wanted to support a new team… I couldn’t be happier with my decision. Fantastic game so far and for a UE5 game, it’s one of the few that actually manage to run well and mitigate many of the engine’s defincies (among one of the best examples so far imo, next to many of the great results we’ve seen from the likes of Xbox studios).

Very nice!
I know, I know…
The Leaderboard:
How do collections work? Like… Say the mortal kombat kollection? It was a -1 for buying it, but do you count each game in it individually? Or do you count beating everything in it as +1
If you took a -1 for the purchase, then it’s a +1 for the completion.
The two numbers should match, no matter what they are so to speak.
