That’s what I thought, too. But then I checked and the Xbox version is sitting on an 89.
Well at that time Deathloop had improvements over the base release, so only place to go with scores is up?
It certainly seemed interesting concept to the gameplay, just a bit too much of it for my style of games too.
Most reviewers would be done with the game by the time of Xbox port so only reviewers would have 1st party bias? Or at least some, but there would be so few of them it would boost score a bit.
Blue Dragon (360 on XSX). Eventually I have played and completed this completing the trilogy of Japanese 360 RPGSs I always wanted to play (Lost Odyssey and Eternal Sonata the other 2). The game improves as it goes on albeit a bit grindy at the start. Ended up enjoying it and the story probably more than Xenoblade. Anyway a bit drained after cramming this and Zenoblade completions in so I’ll be leaving games till picking Indy back up at Xmas.

Blue Dragon. I actually saved my game right before the end boss so I could explore for a bit… A decade or so ago
Its quite an ending!
+1 Antventor
A short point and click puzzler where you play an ant inventor trying to find a replacement part for their machine.
+0 Paw Patrol World
Another for game pass achievement quests but otherwise probably wouldnt have bothered. It’s better than Peppa Pig though.
+0 My Friend Peppa Pig
I have avoided playing this on game pass for a long time, but one of the TA targets this month was to earn ten achievements with an 8 in game name, achievement name, or gamerscore. This game has ten 80 Pt achievements, and can be completed in about an hour, so it was my best option to complete the target.
Well, that’s it. We have reached the end of this years backlog challenge! @Zip is our 2024 Backlog Challenge Champion! With over 50 points it’s an incredible achievement, congratulations!
@Knottian and @SilentJay76 grabs the other spots on the podium with very respectable scores. Well done everyone!
A big thank you to everyone who participated, this was one of the best years with lots of completions, good talk about games we play and just a damn good time with video games. I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did, the competition is just a small part of it after all. I appreciate all of you a lot!
That darn backlog is not yet defeated though, so I will soon™ create a new thread for next years challenge. I hope you will join me once again.

With the final points posted, that makes our average 15 and 1/3 and our median 12.5. That’s more than one point per month per participant on average! I’d say that’s pretty good!
That top four alignment for point values is pretty cool
Congrats @Zip, you speed demon.
I will 100% be spending a bit less time on games this coming year and will probably splurge a couple more times, but this was an awesome challenge and honestly congrats to everyone who participated no matter the result. Also thanks to everyone for posting opinions on what you were completing, that made this a lot of fun to read. And thanks to @Mort for wrangling everything for us and letting us focus on the fun parts!
I was realizing with the game award announcements that I’ve played almost nothing that came out this year (a couple in game pass but that’s it). Started Indiana Jones last night and it’s very good.
Yeah, there have been a lot of games that have gotten brushed aside while I was tackling this, looking forward to the break between this one and the next year’s challenge to maybe pick up a couple things, budget allowing, and catch up on some of the big ones I missed from this year
Also, infinite thanks to @Mort for setting this up and keeping up with the tallying, can’t be overstated how integral you are to this whole thing.
Hope to see everyone back in the running next year - and to Zip’s point, the mini reviews are such a welcome part of this and you have no idea how quickly it can turn someone into a fan of the game, and that’s ultimately why we’re all here: we love games.
I usually have a good push in the early part of the year because its winter time in ohio and what the hell else is there to do.
Then it progressively falls apart around summer into the end of the year.
Does that mean we can hit the sales at last. Can’t believe I’ve resisted all year
I’d also like thank @Mort for running this and everyone taking part for their input/reviews.
I don’t think I’ll be hitting the same heights for next year as looks like a lot of new games hitting Game Pass but will take part as have found the challenge and discussion enjoyable.
Xmas with Indy for me awaits.
