I had an unfortunate incident at age 16 with a bottle of whisky which has left me unable to stomach it. It’s a shame really, but I can’t enjoy it.
I used to be a Beer guy, but I had to give that up when I found I had an intolerance to gluten (yay). Since then I’ve shifted my drinking habits back to spirits and while I’m more of a Rum guy, I have been finding myself dabbling in more Whiskeys lately. I’ll definitely have to give Blanton’s a shot.
Like a few others have already mentioned, Woodford Reserve is really good, and I’ve also been alternating between Suntory and Jameson.
Blanton’s and Buffalo Trace are from the same distillery, the former is mashbill #2 while the latter is mashbill #1. The difference between the two primarily being the rye content, 15% vs. 10%. Blanton’s is also aged about twice as long as Buffalo Trace. All that said, since you like Blanton’s you may want to move Buffalo Trace up on the wishlist. I know I have.
I’ve also heard Evan William’s Single Barrel is reminiscent of Blanton’s, so that’s another one I’m keen on trying now.
My condolences.
Far be it from me to discourage someone’s exploration of the water of life, but as someone who’s married to a gluten intolerant person I’ve become aware of the explosion of gluten free beers out there. Might be worth exploring?
I agree that Woodford Reserve is indeed a good pour. I am however not particularly fond of barley forward whiskies. I’m more of a corn, rye, or wheat man. And yes, I know, flavour profiles from any grain can be quite varied, I’ve just yet comes across any barley whiskey I’ve enjoyed nearly as much as the aforementioned grains. There’s just something about that barley funk I can’t get over.
Most of them are pretty mediocre in my opinion. There are a few companies that make some decent beers, but they’re expensive and require a 20-30 minute drive to a bigger store to get them since most grocery stores don’t carry them. I usually just bring them along to family events so I don’t look like a total alcoholic walking in with bottles of booze.
Honestly, after getting back into spirits, I kind of like not feeling overloaded with liquid and there’s something sort of gentlemanly about sipping a nice Rum or Whiskey.
Damn straight. I generally drink my whisky neat, but I’ve been known to enjoy an Old Fashioned from time to time, and my advice is to learn how to make one:
I got a bottle of Woodford Reserve for Xmas also! Buffalo trace is also a good one but it’s stupid popular now.
I have been seeing this 4chan post do the rounds on Twitter:
Why do people even use 4chan as a news source still? 99.9% of the time it’s completely fake.
Well, pack it up. I’m leaving to Sony. I guess I’ll be playing Starfield there after all if Xbox is quitting.
Lmao, yeah, how can that site still exist? Or be taken seriously.
Why even bother wasting your time and posting even this haha, let those people speak and look like actual clowns in the worst possible way, like to believe this is real means they probably have room temperature IQ. It’s just trolls and the worst ones who would spread this so don’t bother seriously, they mean nothing.
Is ‘Xbox Next’ the best name for branding the future Xbox showcases?

I just find it amusing that anyone would actually believe this, especially when Microsoft have just invested 80+ Billion into Xbox and Phil Spencer is winning awards here, there and everywhere.
Exactly, I can’t remember the last ‘true’ thing I have seen from 4chan. Why anyone would use it as a legitimate source is bonkers.
Inside Xbox is fine, it just needed content. I don’t care to be honest both are ok.
I was thinking they’d go for Xbox Wire Live or Now, because they’re adding a load of new editorial folk to that part of the site, and it is where they annouce the news blasts for Game Pass and their podcast.
It can only go up from here. Hopefully it means xbox gets more asian games.
What is he talking about?
He’s saying that his colleague is saying that he’s doing too much work.
I’m thinking about an Inside Xbox very similar to what they did for third parties in May 2020. That format was perfect: minimal talk and lots of announcements.
