Sadly, its not enough for them to succeed, they need everyone else to fail.

You’re confusing TLOU fanboys with normal people

I see more of:

“You were supposed to sabotage Elden Ring, you idiot!” From Jimmy to Santa Monica

But that’s just me.

I dunno. I haven’t seen any negativity from TLOU fans so far, even checking their subreddit they seem pretty fine about this and plenty of people are happy for Elden Ring. I see no reason why we need to drag down good news for Elden Ring by dismissing another game for something so entirely speculative - seems not all that far off what you’re saying they are doing.

I like elden ring and last of us2. I think both deserve a lot of awards. I do think elen ring is one of the best games of this gen already. I dont think last of us 2 had the best gameplay.

How to sort by month in DayOne?

This can’t afford (no pun intended) to fail.

Some people like to think this is a good thing but it really isn’t, just because you can spend money doesn’t mean you should or it makes a good product, Rings of Power is the perfect example

Why is a show about zombies and afaik, mostly practical effects costing more than one of the most expensive shows ever made that had dragons many more “main” characters that were getting major money for every season

It’s more twitter you’ll find these sort of people, brings out the very worst people regardless of what they like

i feel like this is bad money management for these shows doing getting more expensive. Im still excited forthe show. im going to wait for all the episodes

This seems…inaccurate? All the New Yorker has said is “upwards of 100 million” which seems relatively in line with most other major big budget shows these days. Game of Thrones season 1 cost between 50 and 60 million and got more expensive each season.

Has anyone else been thinking about Jason Schreier’s tweet about AAA games starting development today not being playable until next gen?

It’s got me thinking and feeling disappointed, but I trust the man and I can see some truth in the comment. Does it apply to all developers? Probably not, but studios like Naughty Dog, Rockstar, Bethesda Game Studios, 343 Industries and The Coalition? Probably applies to them when we discuss AAA titles from these studios.

AA midbudget games will be the glue that holds this gen together as it was in the past, before Youtubers and influencers changed the narrative to AA = Bad in recent years. Indie will be where the most creativity is found as usual.

There’s probably a lot of asterisks to his statement. Next gen is probably 6 years away - that’s maybe a lot but not too unrealistic for any new IP or the new game that isn’t a direct sequel with the foundation already in place. You’re looking at stuff like Indiana Jones or Fable IF they entered development today.

By comparison God of War Ragnarok took 4 years but as a direct continuation of the previous game had a lot of the gameplay and story stuff in place already. If they hadn’t planned that as a two parter story you would easily get a third entry this generation. Elder Scrolls will likely enter full scale development once Starfield releases and while they probably need to do a lot of work to upgrade the gameplay systems they have likely been working on pre-production with a small team for a while and have a good idea what they are doing - so it’ll likely be this gen too.

True, twitter has the worst of every fandom or group though - I tend not to let that represent the wider community in my mind.

I think TES6 will arrive by 2026

Yeah either 2026 or 2027, I don’t think it’s going to be as prolonged as Starfield with all the extra work they had to do for that.

Yeah, they don’t need to develop a new engine at least.

Lol what? … I just don’t get it.
