MS’ main focus is to feed the gamepass subscribers. not to worry whether they should release a game (unfinished or not) on certain dates because the ‘fully packed’ thingy.
Exactly. And Halo is a good example of that. It did not release complete/finished. Overall it was a good example of how they don’t necessarily want to spread things out, so I hope they don’t start now either.
New Year Resolution: Seriously chill.
Still work for Microsoft to do with Koei Tecmo it seems. It’s Omega Force developed so likely a Warriors type game.
I do think anime based are the one that needs “work” for Xbox that isn’t run by Bamco. That and/or ones that are very popular in the West (ie Attack on Titan). Then again, Fate isn’t exactly anime first, but perhaps they still see it as niche to West, so why bother on Xbox. Could be wrong.
That’s a damn good list. Here’s mine for the first half of 2023 -
- Monster Hunter Rise (January 20th, game pass)
- Dead Space Remake (January 27th)
- Hogwarts Legacy (February 7th, early access)
- Atomic Heart (February 21st, game pass)
- Scars Above (February 28th)
- Star Wars: Jedi Survivor (March 17th)
- Resident Evil 4 (March 24th)
- Dead Island 2 (April 28th)
- Redfall (May, game pass)
- Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (May 26th)
- Diablo IV (June 6th, early access)
- Final Fantasy XVI (June 24th, PlayStation 5)
This doesn’t include two other games im expecting for the first half of 2023 - Warhammer 40,000: Darktide and Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn. Both of which will be day one on Game Pass.
This is my only disappointment as an xbox fan
I’m scared for next year…
Would have been so good to just end this year with some concrete dates for these games but alas.
Nice lists @Daniel and @peter42O !

2023 is fuckin’ bonkers! and I am sure I am forgetting some as well…I don’t know how I’ll do it but I’ll try. Thankfully the vast majority of the second list will be on Game Pass because otherwise I couldn’t afford even half of them.
There’s some wishful thinking with a few of these, but this gallery posted in the Series X subreddit does a good job of highlighting what a stacked year we’ve got coming to us:

For those, like me, who prefer old Reddit:
Only in your head.
less to do with KT and more to do with Aniplex.
Mine is…shorter.
- Starfield
Will check out Redfall and some others thanks to Game Pass but there’s not much that is a must-buy/play-at-release for me. (Of course STALKER 2 if it releases this year.)
Really? Out of the 50 or so games already announced for game pass alongside about 40 more that stand in the service? 2023 is ridiculously attached
@Mort got a deep backlog for someone picky haha
I suppose there isn’t a ton I’d buy if it weren’t for Game Pass. Off my head it’d be Starfield and… Ishin? Probably missing a couple of others.
Yup, really. As long as I have better/more interesting games in my backlog the standards for new games to be Day 1-plays/buys is pretty damn high.
I play a lot of games, in a lot of different genres but that also mean I have a lot of great games in there. I don’t have to jump at anything mildly interesting, not yet haha.
Starfield is the only game so far I’d buy day one.
Yeah I get it, I am in a unique position on most things where I need to play them before they’re even out for the site.
