The way MS and Sony are approaching the holiday season is fascinating.

Direct opposites of each other. It’ll be fun to see who wins November/December.

One that’s selling for basically pennies at an incredible value or the other piece of plastic in a bundle that cost almost 3x more than the series s.

You’d think it would be a landslide but I guess that’s how dominant the PS brand is.

European sales are gonna be interesting to see considering Sony’s pricing…

At this point I can safely say that anyone who buys a PS5 at those prices must be indeed part of the Cult.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with people wanting a PS5 even if it is expensive I don’t think we need to devolve into calling people cultists for that. But it is going to be interesting seeing how Xbox performs with such a strong lead in value.

Worldwide? Playstation 100% (or Nintendo).

In USA? Probably still Playstation. No matter what price Sony will set - people will still buy it. Because it is Playstation. The brand power is very very strong. Unfortunately.

If people are buying a more expensive console to play the same games that are available on a cheaper one then it is nothing but cult. A lot of people buy Playstation by default, without alternative.

I don’t know what Microsoft should do to change that trend - the loss of the previous generation was too great. Xbox 360 era was a miracle in that great but if PS3 did not fail (and PS5 did not), Xbox 360 would not happen for example. Xbox 360 was lucky.

At this point Xbox feels more like enthusiast console rather than mass consumer console.

Well considering the shitty economic climate here and how Sony doesn’t give a fuck about it and instead of raising the price 50e as they said they raised it 100e+ then yeah there is something wrong with those people that continue to buy those products at those prices, we are truly talking about Cultists at this point.

At least that’s my opinion so lets agree to disagree.

Does anybody have experience with the Nvidia Shield Pro? My HTPC crapped itself yet again and I’m thinking of just washing my hands of the thing and going for something simpler. My primary use case is using PlexKodiConnect to view my Plex-hosted media files on Kodi.

I’m also wondering if I can remote play to it from my Series X. I’m going to have to use a TV in a different room for a while, and it would be easier than moving the Series X or getting a Series S. Thanks!

This kind of behavior exists for pretty much everything. I think some people are just predisposed to latch onto the things they personally like and they treat the things that aren’t that as a threat or challenge to their identity and wellbeing.

I’ve seen people almost come to blows over the great “Pepsi vs Coke” debate of all things.

To be fair, games and other media can have a transcendent effect on certain individuals. I’ve watched plenty of movies that had a deep effect on me and a few that changed my entire outlook on life.
