Glad to see the big websites keeping the pressure on this.
Any media attention that the price increases gets will be forgotten about quickly, the collective fandom has long since made it clear that they will accept basically anything that Sony does.
Thatâs why itâs so scummy of Jim Ryan to do this. Everyoneâs first reaction to this is basically âI canât even find a PS5 on the shelf anywaysâ.
Itâs alot easier for people to stomach when they canât even buy one in the first place. Itâs basically Sony scalping customers themselves.
I donât think it was Jimboâs directive but more likely Sonyâs overall directive considering that the price increase across their products.
Ah, very true. I forgot that Sony marked up their prices across their departments before the PS5.
Theyâll announce a Playstation Showcase next week, show Spiderman, and everyone will stfu lol
PS5 and the current PR disaster is Sony having its Xbox One moment. Its Wii u moment.
Itâs drawing the âbattle linesâ in gaming, as we all know, but in the mainstream⌠Its hits. It cracks. Iâve had anecdotally two families asking me about my Series S this weekend as they were going to do a PS5 but, the cost is a huge hindrance.
I donât think that it can be understated how much the fence sitting families, who are seeing ÂŁ250 plus ÂŁ10pm versus ÂŁ460 plus⌠£12pm?
It might not change everything, maybe nudge it.
Iunno about all that lol.

Nowhere near that level. PS has much stronger market position and brand recognition. Considering shortages it wonât affect them that much.
I know I shouldnât be but Iâm tempted to pick a few things up because I know it will cost them more to process and ship the products than I spend on it. Unless they charge more for shipping.
Then thatâs their problem, because if they donât complain or make any noise about it, Sony will continue to be greedy and who knows what they are going do next, regarding increasing prices. Thereâs a reason why they announce the VR headset and the elite controller without mentioning the price tag, they are testing the waters.
I mean more in the PR disaster sense, like the Xbox One launch.
Still doesnât come close imo.
But I do think all of the moves will lead to a âdeath by a thousand paper cutsâ for the PS brand.
Thatâs a better way of describing it, so def stealing it. ![]()
A video in a Japanese forest⌠Iâm kinda remembering something ![]()
Somebody has abandoned Xbox Series S there?
Did anyone ever collect on those bets? ![]()
Iâve been away for a few days on a work trip so I missed the news that Sony is raising the price of the PS5. I really canât believe they decided to do that. It reeks of typical Sony arrogance as they believe (correctly most likely) that their fans will just be ok with it and the majority of the gaming press will give them a free pass and do damage control for them.
I just donât understand how anyone can defend this.
Yup, Weâre living in the weirdest timeline ever. Where fans of a company accept anything that company throws at them without saying anything.
