Limbo got crazy praise and I thought it sucked ass

Part of the reason iv held off playing this for so long

I only discovered this game a few weeks ago when I was looking at game releases for July and August. Sword and Fairy: Together Forever is actually Sword and Fairy 7 which released last Fall in NA on PC via Steam and is releasing on PS4/PS5 next Thursday, August 4th. And while I can’t find it, someone posted a screen shot of the official Sword and Fairy twitter account saying that this game is coming to Xbox but no other info whatsoever.

In all honesty, I have no idea what the Xanxia (or Wuxia) web novels are or have any history with them whatsoever. I simply watched a trailer for the game on YouTube and then realized that it was actually released like I mentioned above and watched a walkthrough of the first 20 or so minutes. Then I watched Digital Foundry’s tech video on it for the PC version. Visually, all I can is wow!!! Looks great and the combat/gameplay looks real good as well.

The PC version has RT Reflections, RT Shadows and RT Global Illumination. I’m hoping the PS5 version has at least the RT Reflections but I haven’t seen any confirmation that it does. The Steam version has mostly positive ratings/reviews and is said to be real good.

I’m still waiting on the price for the game on PSN as it’s listed as “announced” but the physical version on PlayAsia site is listed as $30 so im hoping it’s the same even though if it’s $40, I’ll still buy it since im interested in the game.

On a related side note, if I complete Sword and Fairy, I will most likely buy Xuan Yuan Sword 7 which released about a year ago on Xbox One and PS4. No current gen version which is a shame but it still looks really good.

Sony must have paid for a timed dealfor Sword and Fairy 7 makes no sense to stagnate an old PC port like that. Thats pretty pathetic to get timed deal for a game that will sell 4 copies. Ridiculous.

I truly doubt this and it’s more likely a case of a publisher or developer prioritizing a platform that it has a chance to sell on instead of spending the time and resources on a version that will almost assuredly tank.

These things come down to manpower a lot of the time. Why is Rogue Legacy 2 online on Xbox right now? They could only get out one console version alongside PC at launch. Happens a ton where it isn’t so much an “exclusivity” deal as it’s a “we’ll get yours out first because we simply can’t handle more than that” one.

There’s never been any “limited time” notice on any of the trailers. Sword and Fairy 6 released in July 2015 in Taiwan and China for Windows. Worldwide in November 2017 for Steam. April 2019 for PlayStation 4. Xbox One is still TBA.

Like Yakuza, Persona and others, I believe that it’s simply the publisher who decides to just go with PlayStation because they believe that’s where their greatest success will be. Plus, if they don’t get a shit ton of requests for an Xbox port, the publisher will believe that no one cares about playing the game on Xbox which at that point, they don’t bother.

As for Sword and Fairy: Together Forever, I am very much looking forward to playing it next week especially since it’s the first new game im playing since Wonderlands back in April.

Yess, Edith Finch next-gen update, time for a replay!

Maquette is also something I’ve wanted to play.

Hopefully this means Stray isn’t gonna extend its PS exclusivity. I can wait. Annapurna just rule man I just wish they’d find a way other than platform exclusivity.

I wouldn’t set your expectations too high with stray.

It’s a pretty game. Aaaaand, that’s about it. The gameplay is very, very lacking, and even though I love cats, having all the cat stuff just be animations happening with button prompts was really disappointing.

I’m like 3 hours in and not really sure if I’ll go back and finish it.

I’m just like you on this, I played Limbo countless times on the 360. I enjoyed playing Inside but never thought it was special. Its “message” didn’t really connect. I thought Little Nightmares was a better game in that sub-genre. But I’m still looking play to the, what, 3? games that are coming to Xbox/GP that are either inspired by them or made by ex-Playdead devs lol

I’m not expecting something mind-blowing, I just like simple and cute stuff like that too. I’m aware it’s limited in control and interactivity, essentially it’s like glorified QTEs a lot of the time, but I’m fine with an experience like that for what it is.

That is very njice to see. Hopefully it’s still happening because it seems May was the last time they talked Xbox?

As for Stray, Cult members will have you believe the game is amazing and here it comes…Xbox is done because it doesn’t have the game.

Still waiting for the game that will finally kill Xbox. Anytime now. Just wait. :risi:

How about we try and go one full day without shitting up the community thread with PS whining.

Setting for those is ancient china. Wuxia is more grounded and closer to the reality.

Xianxia is a little more specific. Instead of the grounded approach it has a lot of themes like deity, demons & immortality.

Remember when Killzone was supposed to be the “Halo killer”? yeah that turned out well. :phil_lmao:

I mean bringing SC on xbox would be a xbox move not a move from Blizzard and Xbox is not allowed to do such

I am not sure if SaF is stagnating on PC yet it will be a huge success on PS at the same time.

Though, it seems like SaF is single player right? Interesting that both Sony and MS went after similar games but MS after multiplayer one, while Sony went after a single player one.

Also it seems like Sony is trying to get a lot of chinese single player games on their platform.

I read them all the time because they are quite enjoyable, but they generate a lot of memes due to having a very…peculiar writing. But it is basically fantasy stories based on chinese myths and legends. Depending on sub genre people will either fly in the sky and destroy planets, or can destroy the rocks with fists.

Unclear what you’re saying exactly or what point you’re making, but I’m simply saying that there’s a higher chance to sell more of that game on a PS platform over Xbox at this time. Focusing on and prioritizing it makes sense, it’s not some “Sony money hat bad guy!!” situation some seems to believe every time something similar happens.

Would be nice if Xbox accounts at least tried to promote it or retweeted that. But I guess due to different timezones it is more difficult.

They should hire some forum dwellers from here :joy:
