I haven’t played Diablo Immortal, but is their gacha necessary for progression?
I haven’t played but I hear it’s fine until u get to around level 60 and then it’s a disaster.
So Sony did indeed plan to release it the same day as Starfield. Typical Sony.
I consider everything when it comes to the enjoyment of a game.
and then they’re playing soft because evil MS bought the dev of Call of Doody.
I think Cory somehow was involved in changing the date - optics wise it would look very console warrish and Cory seems to be the only one guy at Sony who openly doesn’t like. I don’t think Sony really cared about Odin’s day or whatever.
I mean if they do such petty things like releasing trailers of their game the same day as Xbox does (Halo → Horizon trailer, Forza → GT trailers and news etc), this release date was a no brainer.
Either that, or when the date became free Sony jumped on it (like anyone would) as to not step on any toes for the previous and following weeks big releases, to launch it on the day of the week they historically always do and for the significance of a memorable date.
Either way, closer to the date announcement, there was some movement behind the scenes that resulted in the release date announcement being delayed. According to Jason Schierer, the release date change was the reason for the whole delay kerfuffle, but he doesn’t know why they moved the date (I’m sure he does and won’t say, lol).
Why all this when Sony had a perfect date that opened up that even made it in their now released trailer? I mean, the reason is obvious. Sony historically love to throw jabs at Xbox when they’re down, and this is a fact.
- PS2: mocking Xbox and GameCube sales compared to PS2
- PS3: Hiring the fake actor Kevin Butler to throw jabs at Xbox and Kinect and rile up the fanboy userbase
- PS4: Mocking Xbox One and used games at their E3, done by the two biggest names at PlayStation at the time
- This is just a small amount of examples but you get the point
Old Sony would’ve loved nabbing this historic date, but Xbox is moving fast on closing the biggest deal on gaming history and Sony desperately wants their Call of Duty. Combine that with the fact that Xbox is quadripling down on gaming for the first time ever and Xbox is doing amazing despite it’s gaming pipeline not coming to fruition until 2023, and I don’t think Sony wants to step on their toes with something like this. You may think 11.11.23 would mean nothing but all the big websites would be drooling over the console war clicks it would bring them, not to mention social media, YouTube, and public reception/momentum. Kotaku would have a field day, lmao. Even if Sony just wants the date because its perfect, it would still be percieved some type of way. They will rather work behind the scenes to get or extend exclusivity deals (and such) than straight up pull another E3 used video mocking the competition.
I’m already seeing massive PlayStation stans babbling about how they moved it to Wednesday because Wednesdays are important in the mythology or that 9 is significant because there are 9 realms, and other damage control bullshit, lol. Which is weird because there is nothing to damage control. Sony are not known to ever do this and they gave up the perfect date for a reason, and IMHO they just saved us from months of endless console war bullshit.
I think the new day works better for Sony in many ways.
9 realms, Odin’s day, no controversy overshadowing, this news leaking makes Sony the good guys, 2 extra days to book off to play, even earlier than TGAs cutoff, distance of a day from Black Panther 2.
Good overall and removes any bullshit narrative the media and fanboys would spin.
As an aside:
5
5
23
You heard it here first. Thank me later when my hunch ends up correct.
3/3/23
believe
I’d not say no.
But 5/5 keeps the 11/11 style, gives more time to polish/distance from Redfall and comes out the same day as GOTG 3 so they can co-market like Xbox did with Falcon/Winter Soldier, Shang Chi, Ms. Marvel and Loki. Most importantly though, it’s International Space Day. A celebration of space explorers and astronauts.
I think 5/5 from a branding and logistical POV is their best date. But I wanna play Starfield yesterday, lol.
11/11/24 I’m calling it. I still feel like the first 6 months thing was damage control. Redfall will be June and avowed will be 2024
So next year Starfield Redfall Forza Contraband Maybe one more
2024 Hellblade Avowed Some. Obsidian game Halo dlc Maybe compulsion game
Wait, you think Starfield will delay to 2024? Also, 11/11 23 is a Saturday. Games never release then.
Agreed. Honestly 2 extra months of polish would do wonders for Bethesda. It feels like without Microsoft they would’ve released the game this year as planned and it would’ve been buggy as with all their games (despite most likely being a masterpiece at the same time). Phil letting them get an extra 6 months of polish is going to be amazing for the game.
Kingdoms of Amalur ReReckoning is less than $30 right now. I’m so fucking tempted lol
Opps
11/11/23 I’m calling it. I still feel like the first 6 months thing was damage control. Redfall will be June and avowed will be 2024
So next year Starfield Redfall Forza Contraband Maybe one more( Good Year Still)
2024 Hellblade Avowed Some. Obsidian game Halo dlc Maybe compulsion game (also a great year)
and that is my bad prediction
Also I dont expect much from sonys first party next year but they will come back stong in 24
Fair. Although I still don’t see Bethesda releasing a game on a Saturday.
ABK should help 2023 seem bigger.
Nothing like intentionally misleading fans about a release window as a form of damage control
Not sure how credible he is but apperently he has received information from his sources that Platinun Games has approached Xbox to make an exclusive game. The video is in spanish so not sure how good youtube translator is but I know spanish.
Its starts around 11:40
I mean it was pretty obvious from the way they talk about Xbox that they want them to finance their game
