Not very promising
Flintlock kinda reminds me of a souped up GreedFall.
My wife and I were JUST saying that.
Interesting!
Avowed was pitched in 2018, not sure if we were aware before of the date. So it has been in development for at least four years, clearly more but at least four.
This is also interesting.
There are some changes, of course. Itās gotten a little bigger since (from around 170 to 240 employees), and COVID-19 shook up the day-to-day as it did for every studio. But, he says, Obsidian has been largely unmoved; down to tiny details, like its 401k, medical insurance, and payment system
I honestly donāt understand when Jez says MS donāt want to be associated with controversial edgy stuff in regards to thinking Kojima and the game Overdoes being unlikely for Xbox due to those controversial edgy themes. Does he forget Gears of War with its ridiculous gore, and how they were associated with CoD and GTA during their most controversial entries, or even recently The Medium lol.
I wonder if Redfall will be another Grounded situation - where the game finds success, but core community wonāt consider it a true game
Itās funny how Grounded only in early access got more players than some other shall not be named premium⢠prestige games combined
Dude has some weird stuff to say at times. We barely know anything about Overdose anyway.
He does and it sometimes grinds my gears but heās still such a funny and cool dude, has an unmatched energy
To be fair to Jez, sometimes publishers can be weird about that stuff and certainly have been in the past
Blowing people to bits is a-ok but something involving sex or other āedgyā stuff and we have a problem
But I dont think publishers like MS are as picky about that stuff as they once were, especially if it means working with creators like Kojima, not to mention we still dont even know for sure if the Overdose stuff is even the xbox project
I think itās his way of downplaying things so he doesnāt get disappointed himself lol.
He had a similar take with the Activision/Bliz purchase getting shut down.
This is the Blizzard effect
Itās really like a dream to Jez the fact that theyāre joining Xbox
The funny thing is that a lot of forum dwellers does not care about Diablo, while the most of āhardcoreā favourite games are dwarfed by Diablo.
I think Diablo got a decent following within console core gamers but itās hard to guage. Anyway get this, itās Diablo 3 sales:
As of August 2015, the number of sales had grown to over 30 million.
Holy shit. This was just after PS4/XB1 releases, and well before Switch of course.
Diablo has its separate huge community. That community is independent from other core community.
It is actually the problem of Xbox - it has too many diverse communities that exist independently. With ABK they inherit even more of them.
