What other xCloud feature…?
I think we are all underestimating how big xCloud could be for Xbox itself, because if you make a Xbox Series X|S you get a “free” xCloud version that can be played on almost every single device in the world that has a browser. There was chat just yesterday about Japanese devs saying they don’t make Xbox versions because Xbox gamers don’t buy their game apparently but if you make a Xbox game you get a mobile version, PC and console.
I have a gut feeling that Xbox Series X is going to become the default lead platform for 3rd parties this generation because of xCloud, which would be big and bring back how it was for the 360 days.
It helps that when a kid gets xcloud, he/she will stumble upon other games like Halo and think “Mom, I want to subscribe to play Halo.” This is smart.
Well, I think Halo F2P, Warzone, Rocket League and other games will get free cloud versions. Probably even GTA Online with their GTA+ subscription or whatever.
Yeah, I don’t think game pass is getting into playstation or switch.
and even Microsoft’s original plan to let you play all Xbox games you own through the cloud
This will be epic. I wonder if it will be done through selling a virtual/cloud Xbox sub like they do PC. Rent a virtual Series X, $15 a month - Series S, $10 a month, or something like that, and do whatever you want with it like you do your own Xbox.
I’ve said this recently, I was starting to think maybe Xbox will actually not want to anymore now because I think they’ve realised Game Pass is probably their biggest exclusive thing right now and probably ever in terms of the console space.
I think the only way it hits those consoles is cloud only and 1st party only so you need an Xbox account and they can count those players as Xbox players.
The tech will continue to improve and if they are able to get it to a point where it plays relatively close to native for the average internet connection, that will be massive
Creating an xbox version essentialy gives them a version for Xbox, PC, phones, tablet, that could mean a lot, especially for indie devs
I could see it happening one day but not anytime soon
Between Sony and Nintendo not wanting it and MS having much bigger targets in mind, you dont need playstation users when you have billions of phones and tablets out there instead
I don’t think they hit the other consoles ever.
I believe MS wants you to be on their ecosystem, when they think about console they think about their console not others, otherwise they wouldn’t make the Series S, an easy entry to the console experience.
If people want a console with Gamepass, they know where to get one, this will give them more money in the long run.
Yea, the main reason some new Xbox owners bought the Xbox was Game Pass, it’s literally a selling point they probably should put it the product description haha.
Oh, this circumvents the plattform holders stores (and fees!) on Android and iOS. Will be interesting how this develops
Also why would you need Xcloud on a console if you have an app/stick on your TV that does the same thing?
They’re literally saying that you don’t need a console for Xcloud, and if you need a console there’s Xbox.
The easier it is for someone to access it the higher chance they will sign up and use it, but like you said if it’s on everything you don’t need any other device than something you already have. I was just saying the only way I’d ever see GP on other consoles is if it was streaming only because it will take them no extra work. I don’t think they would do it but I wouldn’t be shocked if that was the way they did go if they did, but again they most likely won’t.
@TheBrightestSun It seems the FTC will review the Twitter acquisition: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-05/musk-faces-ftc-antitrust-review-on-twitter-alongside-stock-probe
I said earlier that this one was gonna end up being more a political case if the FTC were to try to do something against it and it seems I wasn’t wrong:
Jordan expressed a level of concern regarding a request from the Open Markets Institute (OMI), which called for the FTC and FCC (Federal Communications Commission) to investigate and stop the $44 billion acquisition of Twitter by Musk. Jordan called OMI “an extreme left-wing political organization,” and accused the group of limiting free speech.
I am 100% more concerned about Twitter buyout than most things because of how much power Twitter has and in the hands of a single person is a bit fucked up. Also I wonder if FTC is starting to get spread a bit thin with all these deals lol.
Microsoft should acquire more publishers. More publishers - more Xbox Everywhere games
Consumer friendly acquisitions
Considering their tanking morale there, them having difficulties tackling Facebook, Apple / Google. Add ABK and now potentially Twitter. And then budget issues…Probably yes
