He right. Its sad that they didnât have any big releases till Q4 the year after the system came out and then 2022 nothing till Q4. like wtf. im the same way. iv been on ps5 more recently. xbox has a lot of good games on gamepass but the criticism is fair. They need to spread the releases out and talk about the games as well. I know people say pandemic pandemic well that hasnât stopped ps from putting out a steady release of games since ps5 came out
Typically I wouldnât care BUT - - - Thereâs a direct cause and effect of marketing rights to Day 1 on GamePass.
Typically if a game is âneutralâ it has a pretty decent chance of launching Day 1 on GamePass depending on the type of game.
If Xbox has marketing rights, the chances go higher, see Back 4 Blood.
But if PlayStation has marketing rights to game (MLB The Show not withstanding) there is zero chance of Day 1 on GamePass as we saw with the leaked RE8 contract.
So typically if Sony has marketing for a game like SF, no Day 1 on GamePass.
And Street Fighter while big, could be a big boon for a Day 1 on GamePass title to help strengthen the FGC on Xbox.
Also probably a somewhat safe bet that if Sony has marketing rights to something itâll probably show up on Spartacus first then GamePass later like Avengers.
So marketing rights can be somewhat important in determining where and when games could show up on Subscription services.
No, but it would have been one helluva get to kickstart back up the FGC on Xbox.
Plus I assume SF6 would have lots of cosmetics, DLC and Season Passes so it would be a good way to incentivize additional purchases with the low threshold of GamePass to open the wider FGC on Xbox.
Ever since the leaked RE8 contract the prohibited Day 1 on GamePass launch, Iâve been paying attention to who-gets-what marketing rights and then the type of game being marketed to see the chances of a Day 1 on GamePass.
Itâs been rather fascinating.
I thought maybe there was a chance for DL2 given the Xbox marketing and the focus on co-op but that theory didnât quite work out.
I donât think every game -has- âmarketing rightsâ. Dying Light 2 didnât seem to have it. Xbox only had the reveal like 4 years ago. I donât recall seeing the game get associated with Xbox after that.
