I mean Microsoft threw hype behind Halo Infinite’s release, but let’s not forget that most of the hype came AFTER impressions and reviews started rolling out and everybody unclenched buttholes collectively.
Everybody knew HFW was gonna be great, Halo Infinite was still kind of “maybe?” on the story side.
Bethesda has always had fantastic marketing, but keep in mind that I am from the U.S. I am not aware of their marketing outside. Even for the past two Doom games, not even like Fallout or Elder Scrolls, I saw ads literally everywhere. I would see posters on store windows when out and about, see a commercial on tv, then sit down on YouTube or twitch, to then see another ad. So I have high hopes.
There’s plenty there to agree with. Jez is right, gaming at Microsoft has been long hamstrung being under Windows and all the politics/bias within the company that comes with that. Windows was the core of Microsoft for nearly 30 years and a road to leadership within the company. Now it doesn’t even have a representative on the senior leadership team and they’ve split up the division moving it into other groups.
Sony are also going to have a huge advantage when it comes to cross entertainment opportunities with both gaming and movies/TV under one company but if cloud gaming does take off in a big way then xbox will have just as big an advantage thanks to azure
The problem with Sony’s current multimedia approach is that they’re Sony. Sony doesn’t make good films lol.
Also this article showcases why it’s important to make CoD exclusive or at the very least make Xbox the best place to play the games by far(charge €80 for the PS version, have Xbox exclusive maps, give Xbox players a way to earn store credit through playing, stop implementing DualSense functions, give Xbox players special perks like early access and make sure the Xbox version always gets the lions share of the polish).
It would be hilarious if it was indeed partially paid article I don’t think so though, but imagine Sony paying them - would be very aggressive move.
Because they earned it. Just look at Crossfire X and BF2042 and Cyberpunk 2077 marketing deals. With Microsoft we got bunch of broken games that I am not sure if Microsoft vetted even.
Well they can easily become permanent. Like even now nobody knows if Kena comes to Xbox for example.
I still suspect that Microsoft is in “Amazon trap” or so to say.
Spot on. Even if Sony can’t make the same amount of games as Microsoft, they will make their single releases into a world wide event (just look at Horizon marketing)
I mean Cyberpunk 2077 marketing was a major coup at the time. The controversial release dampens the impact, but only in hindsight.
MS has a marketing rights contract with EA for Battlefield, therefore they would always have to show Battlefield. This is also a hindsight is 20/20 thing, everyone was of the opinion that the shown trailer and ‘gameplay’ were awesome at the time.
Crossfire X is fair enough, but it’s not like Sony is without it’s L’s in this department.
I never really got the ‘having to prove themselves’ aspect for a lot of studios owned by Xbox. You could definitely make this argument for studios like Compulsion games, but it’s not like Arkane have to prove they are stars.
People underestimate Arkane because Arkane has never made a hugely popular title on the level of God of War, The Elder Scrolls, Horizon, Doom that achieved mainstream popularity.
weird I can’t buy anything on psn now. Same cards iv been using for years. I keep getting an error code. I checked my mail yesterday and one of my cards is expirng so I got a new one. Added it and same error. not sure what to do here This is BS. I have been trying to buy horizion for 2 days now
If anyone says that with a straight face then I have to assume that he/she hasn’t played any Arkane games, in fact Zenimax released some of the best single player games of last gen (that apparently not a lot of people played).
Also If anyone has doubts about studios like id, MachineGames, Arkane or Tango then they should play some of the games they created last gen. We are talking about high quality studios that have released awesome games and now have the backing of MS…Arkane or Tango with a big budget, taking their time to polish things up and working with very nicely designed hardware can only result to more great games. It’s really that simple.
