More Gaas games from Sony’s first party studios ? I missed that.
They really are taking pages from Phil’s handbook.

as long as it’s just an extension of their portfolio and not a complete takeover of it, I’m fine with it. And I trust Sony to continue with a balanced two pronged approach moving forward (singleplayer blockbuster + live service multiplayer).
It will take some development teams and a live service has to be sustained for a while. When you put that MTX store in a game and it works, you begin to think how it could fit in all your games. Xbox has done it for a while before scaling it back. And look at Ubisoft, EA, T2 doing it without getting much backlash. With how Sony is operating now, that’s inevitable.
I find all these acquisitions on both sides exciting. I wonder who is gonna go where next. I dont think we hear much from xbox for a least a year so i expect more sony acquisitions of individual companies
Yep yep.
it’s a bit weird with MS tho. They’re so inconsistent. They do it so well in some and just completely miss the mark on others. Like what 343 has done with Infinite’s live service feels like what Sony would do in one of their first attempts at live service lol.
But yep, when the store works phenomenally without any problems, the publisher definitely gets the taste of what they were missing.
You love to see it
Expect the same from Microsoft too.
so it looks like that bid Discord deal with Sony was just the same thing as what Xbox got lol so far.
Yep. Hoping them singleplayer bangers land and land well (Hellblade 2, Starfield, Midnight, Fable, Avowed).
As usual, lol
I swear I read “social integration with PSN” or something similar
Hey, they made Going Under. Ok. Maybe I should check it out. I think it’s on GP.
Sony’s first live service attempts starts with the incomplete Discord launch, which shall “evolve over time, season to season. Launch is just the beginning”. Hope they don’t get used to it.
Its a good thing this happened after the Activision deal, people would have been losing their shit otherwise
Now it feels like such a nothing burger purchase but it should make the ABK deal go through even smoother now, “hey look, Sony just bought Bungie making them eve more dominant and us far behind, we need ABK”
“Hey FTC, I think you should see this, its a foreign company trying to acquire a local one.”
The monopoly concerns seem even sillier after today.
