Omega Force fell off hard, not sure how you can screw up making the same game for years and years :joy:

Theres gotta be some Japanese devs that are tired of not being able to create something they truly want to make and with a decent budget

Like I get the view of well, xbox isnt that big in Japan/worried it will sell well enough but as long as its coming into gamepass and xbox is footing the bill, it’s got to be an attractive proposition

Surely, SURELY, there’s devs over there than would want that opportunity

Anyway regarding JP stuff MS should at least just keep focusing on getting multiplats. I looked up upcoming JRPGs for 2022 and from these 2 videos out of 30+ the only ones hitting Xbox are Final Fantasy Origin (does this count even?), Star Ocean 6 (tri-ace has only been on a big decline for a long time so I might not even get this), and Eiyduen Chronicles (hype but they’re talking about the mini game or whatever. The main game is still another year or 2 away)

The ones I am interested in from these lists are:

Demon Gaze Extra (Out already. And I plan on getting it because I love my DRPGs)

Monark

Atelier Sophie 2

Triangle Strategy

.hack//G.U. Last Recode

Rune Factory 5

Granblue Fantasy Relink

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero (I played the fan translation already but I’d sure as shit play it again on Xbox)

Made In Abyss: Binary Star Falling Into Darkness (It’s Spike Chunsoft. With how good of a partner they recently became I want to see this add an Xbox version before it’s released. NOT after.)

So GameSpot apparently said Sony could buy EA, now the usual suspects on Other Era (who mere days ago were decrying the death of the industry by consolidation) are cheerleading the effort. What a surprise.

Honestly I wouldn’t be upset if EA was Sony’s answer to Activision Blizzard because few big IPs would end up having PS exclusivity. It’s not going to happen, but yeah.

The article was more wishful thinking by Gamespot than anything else. Buying EA would require much more than the 18 billions Sony gave their entertainment divisions across 3 years.

I don’t see EA ever being bought, atleast not this generation.

I don’t even know what that would do for Sony. Battlefield? They wouldn’t even get the sports games because the companies wouldn’t let Sony keep them exclusive (MLB)

Don’t know, but I low-key think EA + Ubisoft merger is something that could happen now

Wouldn’t be too surprised tbh, Battlefield 2042 flopping might of accelerated those internal discussions. I don’t see it happening but I can see a merger before someone outright buying them out.

Bioware (Mass Effect/Dragon Age) I suppose

Apex is pretty huge

Respawn stuff I guess

It’s not that there aren’t lucrative IPs in there, it’s just that they’d be taking on board a boatload of sporting licenses which have to remain multiplatform - thereby artificially inflating the cost of the acquisition for almost no benefit to Sony.

But who knows? I’d certainly prefer EA to other big publishers

Every Sony rumor is usually fake

It’s honestly more likely that Sony is acquired than that Sony somehow finds a way to acquire a big publisher

For what is worth, they are saying that afterwards :

Just rumours.

I’d like someone to point out how and why Sony is all of a sudden going to buy a huge publisher that isn’t just saying “well Xbox just did it and they need to respond”. Based on their history and the reality of their limited spending ability, it’s not likely. I could also be hilariously wrong.

We got the same type of rumours after MS announced the deal with Zenimax. Suddenly, people were saying there is a high chance Sony could acquire Take Two, Konami, Ubisoft ( a rumour by the PS5 RNDA 3 guy ), and nothing happened. This is just driven by some people’s hope that Sony would do a big move like that as well.
