Sony and Nintendo have some games for H1, Sony has HDW and GT7, plus the moneyhatted Forspoken and some indies like Sifu, Salt and Sacrifice, etc…a very strong start. Nintendo has a new Pokémon in january, Triangle Strategy from SE in march, then Advance Wars repackage and Kirby projected for march. Xbox answers with 0 1st party and CrossfireX and STALKER 2 in addition to very minor things like Anacrusis. If they can release Goldeneye and get in time Warhammer Darktide and some big names on GP the situation will be on par with Nintendo at least, Sony is unreachable with 3 AAAs on top of several minor things.
I think 007 just gonna be Hitman reskinned lol.
To be fair, Sony’s H1 games were all supposed to come out last year. So, while Sony had nothing for the end of the year, Xbox had arguably two Game of the Year caliber games in back to back months (and Age 4 the month before that for my PC brethren).
Ultimately we all knew the first half of 2022 would probably be dry, but people wringing their hands at MS for not matching what Sony is doing are being disingenuous in my opinion. It’s cool if you want them to make some cool Gamepass deals though, but everything else just seems silly since it’s a topic that has been quite thoroughly beaten to death.
Everything gets delayed, I mean, Halo Infinite was a 2020 game and Psychonauts 2 got delayed for 3 years in a row, it’s not real point imo. I also say I already expected this thing since september 2021 and that GP deals would cover like H1 2021 and from 2023 onwards, 23 studios free of old obligations and the 2018-19 integrated since 5 years, plus maybe more acquisitions, there shouldn’t be dry 1st party quarters anymore. It seems reasonable, no?
Games released right now are entirely dependent on Covid delays. One of many reasons the hand wringing over Xbox being light until the Summer is ridiculous.
Let the convo die, don’t bring it back to life lol
If you want Xbox to have more games for the first half of 2022 please point to where they’re supposed to come from? Don’t give me “they need gamepass deals though” because they’re clearly coming they just haven’t been announced.
I’m done I’m just over the same conversation happening every day, Xbox just released 2 GOTY contenders over the last 2 months and there’s talks of droughts. There’s so much to play, controversy is being created when there isn’t any.
We know xbox gets middle to small sized game pass deals thats not the point. The point is they need to snag some REAL AAA games into the service which is what some of us talk about.
Really I dont get how yall continously miss the point and think everyone here is demanding first party content every quarter. In the absence of that Microsoft SHOULD do everything it can to snag some BIG hitters for game pass. Thats it.
Also the way Xbox leadership would be looking at things is fiscal year based.
Their fiscal year starts in July, so the current fiscal year has already had first party releases of Microsoft Flight Simulator (console), Psychonauts 2, Age of Empires IV, Deathloop (PS5) , Forza Horizon 5, Skyrim Anniversary Edition, Halo Infinite, plus 3rd party exclusives. That’s a massive first party output for a fiscal year.
Additionally they’d be looking ahead to their next fiscal year which will have Deathloop (xbox/pc), Redfall, Ghostwire (PS5), Forza Motorsport, Starfield, plus whatever else they’re planning for late 2022 and early 2023.
Those are excellent back to back fiscal years.
Lol, like the ones you listed?
Maybe let it play out before assuming Xbox isn’t going to do any of that.
And these devs have no obligation to put their games on gamepass. You really think Xbox wouldn’t love to put Elden Ring and Dying Light on Game Pass?
Starting next year, sure. As you said, things get delayed and games take time to make. We all knew things were going to be dry the first half of 2022. Acting like it’s something new and getting worked up over it doesn’t make any sense to me. But that’s me.
I care about games though, Gamepass should have a constant stream of them and then start to bring the big weapons in, it’s way past time they started bringing blockbusters besides first-party.
Ok man you not liking them ≠ they arent games xbox shouldnt target.
I’m just having a hard time because MLB, Outriders, and Back 4 Blood weren’t REAL AAA games, but those are.
Then do it. Pay a premium for it but dont harp on about billion dollar budgets.
I was just talking first party ouput cause that’s what people were talking about when I started my thought
The gamepass stuff, I agree. I think they need to aggressively pursue Sonic Frontiers for gamepass this year.
Oh brother 2 of those are all textbook “makes sense for game pass” stuff and nobody gives a damn about MLB outside of the Americas.
I must’ve missed the press release where Xbox talked about the billions remaining in the Game Pass fund.
