Yeeesh, 100 mil for not even a year? That much money probably funded the whole development of the game, shouldve been perma.

I actually don’t think that is accurate. I’m pretty sure the bulk of Stardock’s revenue comes from the Windows utilities, addons, etc. Gaming has always been a side project that is largely funded by the profits from the productivity side.

I remember reading an interview with Brad Wardell years ago where he explained this - but that was probably a decade ago. The situation may have changed since then.

I guess this goes to show you how expensive it is to get time exclusive launches for AAA games when you’re way behind in market share. However I do wonder how much Sony has to pay for these deals because I feel it must be much less

I can see why Phil doesn’t want to do these anymore…

THEY’RE EXPENSIVE AS SHIT.

Just makes you wonder how much Sony is paying for FF7R for example as that is only on PlayStation.

But yes, this is why big exclusive games are a thing of the past for Xbox because they also want day one on Game Pass and you eventually reach a point where it is not financially worth it.

A helluva lot less because PlayStation is the market leader.

Read the post again, I said only on PlayStation. I know PlayStation has a huge install base but PC, Xbox and potentially Switch simply dwarfs it and a lot of money is potentially being left on the table. If SE is not asking for 9 figures as well then they are not really negotiating well.

Switch is out of the negotiations for AAA blockbusters because it can’t run them, but yeah, total exclusivity for 2 years at minimum now regarding FFVIIR situation. I imagine it will be the $100M that was rumoured for Starfield and now also Rise of the Tomb Raider.

This is going to change hard for Sony this gen, since Xbox is really close this time around on marketshare.

Wow. That was a total and complete waste of money. Of course, Microsoft is still paying for timed exclusivity but not to that extent. I prefer Microsoft to fund full exclusives like Contraband for example instead of paying for timed exclusivity but that’s just me. And of course, day one on Game Pass is best, exclusive or multi-plat.

I already knew why Square Enix accept payments for timed exclusivity and if that was $100m for ROTTR six years ago, I wonder what Sony paid for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy XVI. You would think that it has to be more right???

I am curious how much of the FF user base is on PC/Xbox though. Probably less than a third.

If you read that excerpt properly it does not indicate that the Tomb Raider deal was for 100m, simply that he was involved in 100m worth of deals which included the Tomb Raider deal with Xbox.

The second screenshot mentions the $100 million more specifically for the Xbox tomb Raider deal though?

Yeah it specifically mentions that figure in relation to the Tomb Raider deal and only that deal.

Yet the first part doesn’t, again this isn’t “confirmation” of a number like that.

I read the first part as only talking about the Xbox deal and his about section of his linked in confirms that’s what it meant.

Even though it’s not some leaked document the guy is pretty legit and all this info is from his linked in. He was even the Xbox European product manager at one point.

Is it possible to play AC Odyssey with Dolby Vision or does the game have to support it? If it is possible, how can I have the Xbox Series X and the LG CX OLED run the game in Dolby Vision instead of HDR 10? Thanks.

Is it possible to access the Microsoft Rewards app without access to an Xbox? I’m hoping I won’t lose my streak while I’m out of town for the next 8 days…
