XboxEra Community Hangout |OT4| Meat Circus

MVG is hilarious on spawncast he keeps saying silent hill doesn’t exist he never believed the rumor at all like lot of us he also knew both halo infinite and horizon would miss their targeted dates based on what he’s heard behind the scenes also xenoblade 3 was supposed to be this year but covid made it miss this year

Not sure I can get the colors to work perfectly, but might still be able to do one in that vein. The box art is nearly monochromatic as is after all. Hmmm…

Something just dawned on me right now that I have to talk about. Last year, in order to make some quick side money for the holidays, I did some ‘Mechanical Turk’ work for Amazon (you do surveys, transcriptions, etc. for dirt cheap wages). One of the random surveys I did was for an as of yet announced (or being developed - it was still in the pre-production phase) AAA RPG being developed by a not mentioned developer. It was all anonymous and secretive.

I was asked what kind of games I like, have I done those kind of surveys before, simple questions. After that, I was presented with two scenarios: The first one, had the game take place in an alt history Seattle where Europeans did not colonize the United States and instead Native Americans created the USA. The game world was a near future cyberpunk-esque setting that combined high tech with indigenous magic. Super corporations ran everything and the player worked for one of them.

The second scenario had the same magic/tech setting but in New York. After being shown both I was asked which I preferred (being from Oregon, I chose Seattle ). After the survey was completed and I got payed, I thought, ‘Cool’, and went on with my day.

Now, almost a year later, it has just dawned on me that the survey might have been for Shadowrun.

I can imagine inXile reviving Shadowrun. Never gave the IP a chance myself but have heard stellar things about it.

The SNES and Genesis games are the perfect examples of ‘hidden gems’.

Edit: Good call on inXile. I was trying to think of which AAA RPG dev could be making the game I surveyed. We pretty much know what all of the major players are making with the exception of inXile.

This just screams to me that they were having trouble with heat and over did it possibly now they are fixing it to save costs. Fingers crossed this doesn’t harm the console in the long run if it is running hotter.

Not everyone is going to love every game. I loved Horizon and im very hyped for Forbidden West but to each their own.

I loved the robot enemies of the first game. For me that was creative and they behave like animals.

For the new one, visuals are clearly what I am looking forward to.

Can’t find negative thing about the game except that I played it on PC and it was a stutter hell during open world traversal.

The Horizon pc port was really badly handled, compared to Death Stranding which was butter smooth, even though they shared the same engine. Horizon wasn’t ported by Guerrilla themselves whereas Death Stranding was. I think those factors played into it quite a bit.

But now that they have Nixxes I think the future ports will be a lot more stable.

It is more hilarious that people 100% believe that is happening. While with Xbox it is either side project or not happening…

Sheesh, this crossover!

I wouldn’t say any single IP at Xbox is dead, I could see a small team pick up Recore and make another game in future.

Sure yeah but I doubt it.

Also Recore requires a full budget AAA treatment, not a small side project that suffers from similar scope and polish issues the first one has.

Maybe The Initiative could work on a Recore game after Perfect Dark, after all the head of the studio is known for bringing IP back :stuck_out_tongue:

lol yeah, but I really don’t want The Initiative to just become known as the studio that reboots others’ older IP. Would be super cool to see something new from them after Perfect Dark

Well someone is gonna have to start rebooting these old IP, I can’t see MS creating another studio just for reboots and these AA/AAA 3rd party companies that MS could lean on are all getting bought so it’s gonna have to be one of the XGS studios who does it most likely. Maybe Double Fine could reboot Recore after P2.

All this plus I can’t get over the art direction of the game…this Flintstones with armor made by Lego pieces fighting robo dinosaurs in oversaturated environments looks pretty awful to me. I really cannot understand how this is considered a game with good art direction…

I think if Perfect Dark is successfull they will make at least a trilogy like Tomb Raider reboot managed by the very same Darrell Gallagher. So they are set for a decade considering modern development cycles. XD
