MS really has much more games in development than the previous gen.
Iāve been out for awhile. Just had a lot going on so Iāve only poked in periodically, itās nice to see some of the same dialogue still happening. The Switch stuff was happening in the studios thread but I feel itās more appropriate here and just wanted to give my two since. The collab was probably just the Rare N64 games but I think the coolest thing that could come out of this is Nintendo allowing further Xbox Live support into their system. Almost as a way for Nintendo to sidestep having to deal with the services and online connectivity and communication, obviously they are terrible at it, and focus on games and hardware. They would still sell their service separately to be granted access to the classic games
The Satya x Recode interview where he says āXbox is now central to MSā, and " [we have observed people in] Game studios need to be together to be productive". 50 mins duration.
Good and frank discussion. Personally, it was very interesting to me as the number of topics covered are amazingly broad. Kara Swisher - along with Walt Mossberg, previously - are masters at interviewing, and are able to ask hard questions point blank, and Satya in his own way is able to answer quite well and quite candidly.
The platform deal that Nick talked about was not the Rare games being on the N64 online service.
So you know what it is ?!

Iām over it to be honest. Itās clearly not Game Pass and probably not Xcloud either. This would be a big thing for Switch only players. And it probably isnāt gonna benefit us Xboxers anyway , soā¦meh.
I have no idea what the deal could be but xCloud on the switch and any portable consoles they make after that would be huge for xbox and its users. More money for the coffers and more games in the future. The more gamepass grows the better the service will get.
I would say thatās exciting but I still feel like it will be something similar to that. Something that people get out of control on expectations but you end up just saying oh thatās neat.
Huge for Xbox users because this means more money to make GP even better with deals? Because for me as a Xbox player I see no real benefits otherwise. ![]()
Honestly, I donāt think xCloud on switch is happening because a big appeal of gamepass is indie games. I donāt think Nintendo would want to sacrifice their indie market with gamepass. Also I believe indie games sell the best on Nintendo when speaking about consoles
Iām not gonna allow myself to get dragged into the discussion, but there are two fundamentally wrong things with the whole āme as an Xbox playerā narrative
-
A streaming deal is about Game Pass subscribers, not Xbox players.
-
Xbox players can own multiple devices and want to access the services they pay for across those devices.
Never have I thought, āas an Android owner, I see no benefit to streaming to iOSā
Thatās debatable, indies sell better where they launch first and/or are marketed better, store discoverability is the biggest issue for any indie.
I still wonder if Xbox could convince Nintendo to allow Xbox Live on the platform. Get achievements in games. Have party chat and messaging ect. Maybe allow cross save on multiplayer games.
Amazing stuff.
Sean W seems to have taken a lot of time to observe ambient āthingsā. In one of his videos he was even checking the sunlight through the clouds in Fragmentation.
