It just an old game, it’s not the end of the world.
To me “legacy” titles always meant games that were already released, so if Quake is just another port on new platforms, it folllows that. However, a brand new installment in the Quake franchise will be exclusive.
Yes this is what will happen.
I would imagine it’s just the old quake remastered with updated textures and high frame rate. If anything, the more platforms it’s on the more of the newer gen get to take notice of quake and might drive demand for a big reboot. Then that would be exclusive and would drive sales and Xbox gamepass. (Plus I doubt a complete reboot akin to doom 2016 would be rated and release within a month or two of the announcement)
Also the fact it got an ESRB rating means it will be released soon, so it is already not a new Quake game.
It’s also possible this Quake edition was in the process of development and they had already decided to release multiplatform prior to the Xbox acquistion.
I am not expecting re-releases of old games to stay multiplatform indefinitely.
This sites gonna be pretty hectic today if so…
I hope these games being on other platforms won’t effect peoples enjoyment of it though.
Also to help people with the concept, Doom Eternal was also a legacy title, and there was a next-gen port for all pltatforms. Quake is the same situation, but much much older.
Phil said something about that there are some games in the future that could have some deal, don’t remember his exact words but I guess it’s not entirely impossible. But I doubt it.
I wonder for how long MS will continue doing Playstation releases. What a mess in a world where Sony aggressively pushes time exlusivity for the games they don’t even own…“2025, MS still releases games on Playstation”
If FO1/2 remakes happen, I wonder if they will be mutlplatform too.
Well, whatever.
Huh, what other games during Quakecon will be for PS?
If they are remakes, it would be like a new game, so exclusive. This is just a port of an old game, much like Doom Eternal was ported to all next-gen machines.
Deathloop
I think that was a rather harsh ban on Javier.
yeah why ban him lol, i dont get it.
Have to agree
As long as no ES6, Fallout 5 or any other new games from Bethesda come to PS5 i will be ok with that.
Well, maybe MS will release the remaster of these games on Playstation. They have the “legacy”. Anyway whatever. If that’s a way forward, so be it.
(It will raise the questions again if other games are coming to Playstation or not. But I leave to MS to deal with that mess)
That’s just on the media not listening what Spencer said. Who cares about them in the end.
