XboxEra Community Hangout |OT2| Cracking down on shitposting

Oh my, 2023 is not too long anymore. I love all their games. Hopefully they somehow find a way in the future to increase their output. GTA V will be 10 years by then!

Ten years, yeah insane really. I agree, hope to see more than just one real new game this gen. Last gen we had truly only one proper new game, RDR2.

Let’s hope this source is legit, but honestly 2023 doesn’t sound impossible.

Good decision if true.

Would not be surprised at all if Assassin’s Creed skips this year. Say what you want about the games, but they are massive and are on a relatively tight schedule, so Covid slowing production is going to cause massive issues.

Hmmm, yeah some people just don’t want Xbox games on PS and Nintendo, just like some of them don’t want their games on Xbox… But, under all the fanboyism and what not, I believe there’s a solid reason for concern about this whole scenario:

1- If someone can play Xbox games through Gamepass on other consoles, why would they buy a Xbox console? They can have the best of two worlds just buying a Nintendo or Sony console and subscribing to GamePass. It’s safe to assume that Xbox Hardware sales would fall a cliff after this, but also that the services $ would skyrocket.

2- With less and less people into the Xbox Hardware system, why would third party develop games for Xbox hardware? Why would they spend money, time, resources in general in a version that wouldn’t sell enough?

3- And then, what would MS do? Would they have to pay third party for Gamepass deals, so the devs can develop Xbox versions of games? Would the money spent on deals be justified and recouped in the end?

So there’s a lot of things that can go wrong on this. For me it’s not about blocking PS/Nintendo users from Xbox content, it’s about losing third party support.

In the end, its a lot of IFs and what not, but they’re fair questions to be asked

If you didn’t enjoy the vaults, then “no”. It’s basically all vaults/puzzles, no explorationor combat.

  1. Implies that a streaming experience is good enough to be the primary way that those users consume Xbox games. If there are enough people that are ready to stream then we can already expect sales to fall off of a cliff as soon as xCloud is out of beta.

  2. If the service number skyrockets, there will be a large number of people in the ecosystem. Why would third parties ignore that? If you want to stream on xCloud you have to make an Xbox game. If streaming picks up, their position with third parties will be better, not worse.

I think there is a risk here that xcloud becomes the secondary service as opposed to the primary (which could be sony or Nintendo local hardware).this could result in a loss in sales and third party revenue. I think that with xcloud available to stream on TV (which it will in the future) the outcome isn’t much different than running it on another console.

If you mean A New God, I played a little of it and it’s good but it’s mostly all puzzles and im not going back to it. Really enjoyed Myths of the Eastern Realm expansion and will play The Lost Gods probably later this month after RE 8.

Man I thought today was going to be a big Star Wars day. Movies, shows, and game announcements, but nothing.

Agree with pretty much everything you said.

If I can play EVERYTHING on one platform, I no longer need the other platform. PS5 would be for exclusives, third party multi-plats and whatever Xbox exclusives I get via Game Pass.

Not only would I no longer need an Xbox console but also, I would no longer spend any money into eco-system excluding the $10 monthly rental for Game Pass to play an exclusive. Basically, the 30% cut that Microsoft gets when you buy a third party game will no apply from me so that’s more money lost for Microsoft.

Putting Game Pass on PlayStation, I believe would kill off the Xbox brand and platform because why would anyone who prefers PS5 ever buy or invest into Xbox if they no longer have to in order to play their exclusives? And those who like both and aren’t a fanboy of either but can save money and make it easier for themselves, why would they keep the Series X/S when they don’t have to?

That last part is me. It would be the same if Sony were to put their exclusives on Xbox. I would then no longer need to own a PS5 because if I can play every game that I want to play on one console, I honestly have no use for the other.

As for Switch, I can see Game Pass exclusives only via XCloud but I can’t imagine them allowing those who play on Switch to play those games docked. I can see the handheld itself being used as if it was a cell phone so this I can see.

Overall, I do disagree with it because 1) I do believe that it will end up killing Xbox in the long run and 2) Xbox users get nothing in return so where’s the benefit for the Xbox user install base?

But whatever, have to wait and see how it all plays out.

I still find these comments puzzling when there will be an XCloud app on the same TV your PS5 is plugged into. If that is enough to turn u off from buying an XSX then its already a wrap.

Launch the TV app or the PS5 app, the only difference is one already has a controller.

Difference is that you still need to buy a PS5 to play games on PS5 where as with a XCloud app on the TV, if you don’t mind streaming games, you don’t need an Xbox Series X/S to play Xbox games.

Yes, but someone can now buy a PS5 and have access to both Sony and Xbox games (via their TV). Xbox is creating an ecosystem where you don’t need to own the box to play the games.

You can spend $0 up front and play Xbox games. You can put the money you saved towards a PS5 and still play Xbox games. All of this will be possible with or without an app on the PS5.

I don’t expect that streaming will always be limited to Game Pass. I believe we’ll be able to stream any game in our library.

Putting an APP on a Smart TV is much different than putting it on PlayStation which IS their competitor where as a TV is obviously not their competitor. If you have an APP on the TV, that’s not giving you ANY advantage if you have a PS5 because the APP isn’t on the PS5.

But if you have the APP on PS5, a PS5 user will simply look at it as well, im getting everything here,so why would I go anywhere else?

I agree with the TV App. I agree with X-Cloud streaming on Xbox One/Series consoles and PC. I can even agree with an APP on Switch but only when it’s in handheld mode because Nintendo is in their own world anyway.

But putting the APP on your main competitor which has dominated for 25 years, has kicked Xbox’s ass every generation repeatedly and then add in that Xbox users like me would get no benefit whatsoever when playing on Xbox, I just don’t see any benefit to the Xbox eco-system or platform or users if it’s on PlayStation.

Think about it -

To play Sony games at least day one, you need a PS5 (or in a few cases, PS4). To play Nintendo games day one, you need a Switch.

But to play Microsoft games, you don’t need an Xbox and can play them ANYWHERE and EVERYWHERE. What’s the benefit? What’s the point in not just going third party ala Sega at that point?

Think of it this way, if Netflix put their originals on Amazon Prime, would anyone need Netflix? Nope. I see it as the same thing. If I can have access to everything on one console, I no longer have any use for the other, plain and simple.

But I don’t see Sony allowing Game Pass anyway even though it would be hilarious if they did. Imagine at E3, Sony announced that. And they get Starfield day one via XCloud streaming via Game Pass on PS5 AND still get Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo a year before Xbox owners. Yep, Xbox fans would definitely come out ahead. LMAO!!! SMH.

This is the entire point of streaming though.

Yeah, streaming everywhere EXCEPT on PlayStation.

I understand why people have an aversion to that. The end result of people being able to play Xbox games without an Xbox doesn’t change though.

People can use their saved money to buy a PS5, Switch, or a fancy dinner.

I would assume MS has taken this sort of thing into account when deciding to make a streaming services. Loss in third party revenue will likely be offset by an increased subscriber base. And… like other markets, we can expect gaming to be almost wholly subscription based in the future.
