Saw a post on social media mentioning the film My Girl.
Jeez, we think nowadays films for kids sneak in the odd double entendre for the parents and are edgy - 80s/90s films absolutely fucked with viewers hard despite being rated PG!
I remember being traumatised by it for weeks as a young kid, genuinely bloody harrowing lol
I was 5 lol, I didnāt see Home Alone till a few years later (promptly became obsessed with it and planned how to turn my house into a death trap ) so I didnāt know him.
Iād lost my grandfather (who I lived with) at 4 but think the film horrified me as Iād not realised young people could die lol.
My family werenāt great at checking films lol, I remember seeing Labyrinth way too young and finding the monsters terrifying too
On the plus side, back then we got to experience Robin Williams in his prime in many kids filmsā¦
Has this been mentioned here already, maybe in the Ally thread or elsewhere? Didnāt want to create a thread on it unless sureā¦
Seems like the Xbox will be adding games from other stores into the Xbox app, like GoG Galaxy does - something Iād really welcome as I do love Galaxyās āsee all my games in one placeā approach but I donāt use it anywhere near as much as I do the Xbox app - and it might mean Iād be able to view them on the mobile app in time too, which would be a big help when sat at my desk bored thinking āwhat should I play tonight?ā
Really enjoying Rematch. Itās infuriating to have showboating Messi-wannabes try to dribble round the entire opposition team and losing it at the first challenge every time, but when a team plays like a team, even at a low skill level, itās a lot of fun.
I have the 1TB card and I still really hope they make it compatible next gen in some form or another. It also makes sense if they figure out a way to make it compatible with the handhelds. The problem is of course the bulge when plugged it, especially on the handheld it would need to be positioned well.
The Switch 2 is nice though, Mario Kart World is probably the game Iāve been playing the most since I got the console and Iām really interested in Donkey Kong. For me the problem is having too much stuff to play because of Gamepass (still subbed until summer 2026) and having these other games on the side. If I buy too much then itās like Iāve paid for GPU for nothing, and my gaming time is limited to only a couple hours dailyā¦
From the article by The Verge about the layoffs this is also said:
One source tells me Microsoft is restructuring Xbox distribution across central Europe, resulting in some Xbox operations ceasing in some regions.
Thankfully this should mean a next gen Xbox system should still be available for my country, but Germany does fall under central Europe, but isnāt Germany usually keen on Xbox?
Hopefully those in affected countries get to order them online from Xbox itself.
Worst case scenario our country doesnāt get the system in the actual stores here, but we can just order them no problem from the MS site or some other site. You would think that shouldnāt be a problem.
I do wonder just how to they expect to gain more people to buy their next gen hardware products(Whether its a pc handheld, console, or even a native handheld) if they remove central europe from this equation.
It feels very short term and more about appealing to the shareholder gods that many corporations seem to love.
I swear, i hope one day we get a corporation that does not respond to shareholders and only themselves. I mean, when was the last time we saw somethign akin to this? The only one that comes to mind is Valve and that is it.
It could be theyāre outsourcing that capabilities or merely relying on larger stores to do the distribution and logistics instead of doing it themselves. For instance instead of having direct retail presence theyāre either outsourcing it or letting places like Amazon, GameStop handle it. Other option is if third party equipment is a thing, letting Asus, MSI, Lenovo and others handle it.
Thereās a reason for that - Valve isnāt listed, itās privately owned by Gabe and maybe some other investors.
Unfortunately the US model of capitalism puts a legal duty on CEOs to act in the best interests of shareholders and maximise profit / shareholder value - unfortunately weāve mostly copied it here in the UK and the rest of Europe, although sometimes it is tweaked a little.
Some jurisdictions over the years have lent more on the best interests and value parts to include society, the environment, workers and health of the company - but unfortunately the US where Microsoft is based has been going more and more the other way where short term greed always wins out, while long term value has started to be completely ignoredā¦
