XboxEra Community Hangout |OT14| New News? NEW THREAD

Maybe all companies should go through a big public aquistion so they’re forced to curry favor by allowing unions.

I’m seeing so much chatter about this game . I’m still confused about what an extraction shooter is and what’s the hook

How come I don’t see these articles for other remakes like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Metal Gear? Etc

Like this is literally Halo’s first real remake if we’re being honest, Halo CE Anniversary and Halo 2 Anniversary were just graphical updates, I know Halo has a very toxic portion in the community that can’t be happy no matter what HS does and that probably leads to stuff like this but damn, it’s just hit pieces, it’s a remake that adds a ton of new stuff and three new missions.

Bad Microsoft/xbox news and articles generates a ton of click . What’s funny there’s more scrutiny for this than Sony selling TLOU for the 5th time

It’s just strange people are just looking for ways to hate on it

The Last of Us 1 has been re-released twice. Three releases in about 12 years.

I’m not sure the problem is a remake every 12 years…

It’s fair to ask who is the game ‘for’ to a point, but it’s mildly odd to say ‘this veteran dev likes it’, ‘this one doesnt’, and then act like only the latter has any meaning. Horses for course, its all opinion pieces… I’m not even very interested myself, a Halo fanboy, but that doesn’t mean I find the question interesting. Who cares? Let it fly, let people celebrate it if they want, and nobody is forcing you to play. It’s also not precluding other titles, one assumes.

It’s also a bit rich, more generally, to now complain about Halo’s gameplay being changed after years of people ignoring the great gameplay that could still be bad, or bitching about sprint etc etc etc. There’s just no joy there. There’s never the article of ‘why I love this’. That’d be boring too, mind.

What am I even saying? I don’t know.

Stop asking questions and consume another version of Days Gone.

So they’re abandoning Windows version and promoting Xbox to PA. That’s certainly a solution to incompatible backends.

So now that we know Fallout 76 is getting a Series S and X version in 2026, could play anywhere be coming to that game as well? And with that crossplay?

I hope so!

Agreed only ever used Razer for Xbox but after the experience went and got me another elite 2, thinking of getting a third. But thanks, it’s good to know the elite is still the best.

PA is effectively guaranteed at this point; the moment they said next-gen native version I got excited because it meant that it was a new wrapper (which likely also means a new set of achievements) and at least crossplay/cross-progression with PC and Xbox. Fallout 4’s situation being identical and the new tidbit confirming that’s the case would be like for like I’d wager. My only question is whether or not my characters will be ported.

I did get a chuckle when the media reported on the native 76 Xbox/PS5 versions with statements about hoping that it would be 60 fps now… and it has been for well over a year on XSS/XSX/PS5 - it received a previous next-gen upgrade which targeted 60 FPS and at least on Xbox it’s largely in that ballpark (I guess those people must be playing on PS5…)

If the PC version is the benchmark, I’d wager a locked 60 across the board (at the minimum) and effectively High/Ultra settings on XSX and PS5 Pro.

A rumor of Half-life 3 trailer in production has surfaced. While this pertains to PC it would certainly be a benefit for Xbox push to unifying their platform with PC. Xbox Ally users will certainly want this.

Had to read. Interesting that what’s happening is that a whole new XPA version is being added to the Microsoft store and the current windows version will stop getting updates. I wonder how saves will work (transfer over) for existing F4 players on that version or are there so few Fallout 4 windows (MS store) players they don’t care? Anyway, this sets the stage for them to do the same with any game. But it’s also a tad frustrating because they should’ve done this in the first place when they migrated the whole Bethesda library from the deprecated launcher into the Microsoft Store/Xbox Launcher.

I can’t tell if this is a joke or not. It’s not quite April Fool’s yet

Play Anywhere versions of these titles have to be completely re-engineered in order to support the cross-platform nature that is the current Xbox/PC paradigm… that doesn’t happen overnight. Especially not when BGS have been juggling nearly a half-dozen projects whilst having to go through the post-COVID bubble burst the industry saw (which directly resulted in a fair number of reductions across the BGS team).

There is almost nothing that the current zeitgeist bitches about that I can even remotely relate to, not only because I actually have a software engineering background and have a bit more understanding of what actually goes into game dev, but because… in 2025 with everything of actual importance going on, I can’t be bothered.

Speaks to the industry as a whole tbh. The energy in it. So many articles are just rage bait nonsense about Xbox stuff. Or people mad about woke stuff. And man I just want people to be happy playing the games they love again. It’s not even like the rage bait is even fun. It’s just the most generic slop. You could tell me AI wrote it and I’d believe you. I just stopped checking for Xbox news online. I’ll get it from Xbox Wire and here I guess. But everyone complaining should take a good long look at themselves in the mirror. The industry is imploding and a lot of it is from external factors, developers, and publishers; however, gamers and especially gaming media aren’t blameless. How do they expect the industry to feel when there’s such blatant bias and constant negativity. These people have a platform to advocate for proper change and instead keep going for the Xbox click bait. If they really really don’t like remakes then they should be talking about remakes as a whole and not just grumpy when Xbox does it.

I get that it takes time. I just mean it seem like kinda a waste in hindsight that they ever made the Microsoft Store native versions in the first place. I get it being more work to make XPA versions, but I also assume it wasn’t zero work to make the Microsoft Store versions at all. In theory they could’ve kept the Bethesda launcher up for longer and done some type of connection thing (like they do with Battle Net, EA play, Ubisoft etc) while they took the additional time to build future proofed XPA versions of games (at least the most popular modern ones like Skyrim and Fallout 4). But yeah idk, maybe the Bethesda launcher would cost more resources to maintain than the resources it’d take to build basic non XPA versions of all the games for the Windows Microsoft store.

isn’t this (firing workers for organizing a union) illegal in the UK?

Yes, hence the pretence it was for gross misconduct - they’ll probably try and say it was due to saying bad things about the company in the chat or something.

It’ll almost certainly go to an employment tribunal and probably a court case against Take Two, and the employees will probably win both after a long drawn out battle.

But Take Two will see the payouts as worth it to avoid unionisation of their workforce, as they’re a scummy company doing scummy things.

On the plus side (for me), I was already 50/50 about GTA6 as it looks bloody awful to me but I know they often innovate the “realism” aspects of NPCs and crowds, and this has helped push me towards “fuck them they’re not getting my money”
