On one hand I’m happy to see Star Wars Outlaws getting all this positive attention. It’s a great game and I’m glad people are enjoying it and it deserves the praise.

On the other hand I’m just a liiittle bit ticked that it only gets to be a darling now that it’s a Nintendo game. And too late to get a sequel by the way.

I do voluntary cleaning work at the gym here. Mainly using the vacuum cleaner, and cleaning the machines and dressing room and I genuinely enjoy it. The vibe and people there are great too, that helps a lot as well.

I do wonder if using a actual Powerwash cleaner is as fun as the game makes it seem, haha.

My mom once let me help her power wash the house. When I was maybe in high school or late middle school, it certainly was the most fun thing in the world. You can feel the pressure and immediately see the difference when dirt is taken off.

And what’s worse is that the same game costs just as much (or nearly as much) a year later on its weakest technical outing. Gamers and media have definitely become part of the problem. Everything is part of the problem and the problem. We’re all Squidward .

…ntil something happens (and I fear if it did, it wouldn’t be pretty) we’re stuck with never-ending demands for growth and higher wealth extraction from the rest of us to pay for it - all the while, media and marketing ensure people want the most expensive option rather than the value one, meaning the money men learn if you can’t beat them, join them. I’ve no doubt PlayStation could offer $20k gold-plated PS5 Ultras and the narrative would be gaming is a luxury and if you can’t afford it you shouldn’t be gaming, while continuing to lecture that Game Pass is simultaneously losing yet hurting gaming and is greedy with price rises… (Not that I completely disagree with the last bit of that narrative, Microsoft are being greedy and demanding higher prices because they can and shareholders want it)

Without going on one of those long rants myself, I’m genuinely worried about what conflicts will happen to resolve issues in my life time. That’s a lot of anger right now and a lot of broken systems being pushed to the absolute extreme level of exploitation possible. And I don’t see the civil rights era sentiment of mass peaceful boycotting In fact people and media seem happy to buy into a lot of this over tribal behavior. Xbox will get slammed for it, but there’s hardly a whisper when PS raises sub prices and no one really cares when Nintendo does $80 games and overpriced hardware. Oh well. The future is the future

It just strikes me as a very clear example of how much of what happens in this industry is driven not by people’s genuine opinions but by influencers and other people trying to push a narrative. And it’s sad how well it works. Everyone just wanted to slag this poor game because of Ubisoft, because of the female character, because they didn’t like the latest Star Wars film, because of whatever. Now it’s like the fact that it’s on a Nintendo console gives people permission to try it themselves despite what the narrative told them to think. And guess what, wow, turns out it’s a pretty decent game, that people actually like, when they’re told they’re allowed to.

Eh, I wouldn’t worry too much about what you’re purchasing, because most people aren’t. The Legion Go 2 exceeded sales expectations for $1400. The Ally X is already sold out. The Nintendo Switch 2 at $450 and dated hardware is the most praised console with tons of sales. You’re a drop in a very big ocean. And I don’t think anyone should feel bad about their purchasing decisions if they have the money and it’s fun for them. It’s just the business that should feel bad for exploiting consumers. And yeah they’ll only be punished if we mass boycott them and hurt them with our wallets, but I don’t feel like that collective energy and drive really exists anymore. So don’t worry about it any more than any other consumer is.

Yeah and it’s really depressing. Social Media really was the death of us all. The internet was meant to increase our collective power against corporations and governments and force more oversight and visibility. But really it’s just become a feeding ground for a few very vocal people and everyone else just putting themselves into flocks of sheep around those vocal minorities.

It’s also 899 EUR or 3799 PLN. So if you deduct tax from 3799 PLN, which is a bit above $999, you get about $850.

There is limits with everyone, fans included, microsft is gonna feel that sooner rather than later.

I do wonder. Somehow, I think some of this is to bring more publishers into the Play Anywhere program as I’m sure Xbox would like to see their store gain steam and compete in the PC space. I do however hope all this outrage gets them to rethink Game Pass. I don’t think Ubisoft and Fortnite are bad, but they should allow gamers to decide if they want them or not. Having a tier where you can add each for an extra 5 bucks isn’t bad those who want it will try it.
Xbox was probably trying to get the Fortnite userbase and get Ubisoft to commit to XPA maybe also the ABK cloud rights is involved. s we will probably have to wait till next week to see if all the outrage result in a dent or not, but this outrage almost seems to have been pushed to the 2013 DRM levels

They really should’ve just added a tier and not done a price increase otherwise. People wouldn’t care then AND they’d probably get away with stealth increasing core. They could’ve even made it “Ultimate Plus” and done a My Hero Academia collab to promote it since we’re still near TGS. Do some PLUUUUUSSSSS ULLLLLTTRRRAAAAA meme posts.

Didn’t get any pop-up ads when I was online earlier as I downloaded the new update for Borderlands 4 and downloaded Jump Space since I bought it the other day. Not sure when I will play it though. lol

If Ubi offered a way to upgrade the Classics in GP Ultimate to the premium Ubi+ tier for £8 a month (the difference in price going direct to them) I’d get it and leave it running forever (while currently I only sub to the higher Ubi and EA tiers to trial a game before buying it).

I actually only buy AC and Anno games from them, plus the odd additional one I like the look of like Immortals: Fenyx Rising, so they’d likely make money from me plus gain higher counts on others I might try like Outlaws or even Avatar (I feckin hate the films lol but it looks pretty).

TV has been doing this for a while - I get Paramount+ free with my heavily-discounted Sky Cinema and am able to pay £2 a month direct to Paramount to remove the ads, while Disney and Netflix I can get discounts by bundling them but still choose the level I want
