I checked it recently and stream your own game is getting really big. I also noticed they’re putting all the first party/GP titles up too (probably for core and standard members who don’t have day one GP).
It’s gotten to the point where they’ll have to start looking at the user experience. The UI being like a Netflix/Hulu video streaming app was fine when it was only gamepass titles. Now it just doesn’t work. Like your owned library is just one tab (purchased games) in the “stream your own” slider and for me it kept defaulting back to “all” if I wasn’t constantly scrolling. There’s not a ton of library features for filter games you own or game pass titles either. Overall, it needs to feel more like the user experience on the Xbox console or Xbox PC App: a home screen, a separate game pass page, and a “my library” page at minimum. Hopefully general UX and UI improvements are coming with rumors of them getting out of beta soon.
Maybe it’s due to being new and celebrated, and don’t have much knowledge on MKW, but Sonic CW seems to have a lot of passion and heart, like you can tell they were having fun doing rival dialogues and winner dance moves.
Wow this sounds pretty big. Xbox idea of gaming is beginning to sound pretty much like an operating system for unified game. Almost like one ring to rule them all.
The audience for the traditional console model is shrinking and getting older and will eventually be gone.
I think in the long run we’ll look back and see that Microsoft spent the last two generations at least trying to lay the groundwork for the distribution models that will come next. How successful they were is another story. But at least they didn’t just stick to business as usual until it was too late.
ETA: Reading comments and I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that most people just want to gloat that Sony is beating Microsoft and not think about the overall market shrinking. Like wow, you’re fighting over deck chairs on the Titanic and your side totally has more chairs than your rival!! Maybe you want to start thinking about moving towards the lifeboats though?
Well at least a generation and a half. Anyway, I really think Xbox figured it out. Current console gamers are spending more than ever and they are maximizing on that (including by releasing multiplatform now that existing console gamers are fixed), and the future of gaming is cloud, mobile, and PC so Microsoft is working to meet people there all within the same Xbox (gaming) ecosystem.
On the comments, lol I think that’s always been the case. Console gamers are 100% in a bubble, especially the vocal ones online (especially on Twitter). And they’ve been trained to fight over pieces of the pie; now they’re failing to reach out and look at the big picture of what’s happening in the industry. Unfortunately a very common story these days (like in all walks of life). People would rather feed into the “us vs them” mentality than really take a look at what’s happening around them and realizing that it affects everyone.
Anyone gaming on PC, Alan Wake 2 deluxe edition plus the remastered first one, American Nightmare, Control, the first two Max Paynes etc all for £23 on Humble’s new bundle.
I own them all already annoyingly as that feels like a great deal lol
I was watching this and I noticed that you talked about how it didn’t look bright enough. That’s exactly the problem I had with the network test as well. It looked too dim, as if a screen dimmer had been activated. Was hoping the full version wouldn’t have this, damn.
She is doing an incredible job on the Japanese support front, it’s the best it’s ever been for the platform and this makes me very happy as I love me some Japanese games. Can’t wait for the TGS show!
So that would mean it doesn’t have this problem on PS platforms?
I thought it was just a issue of the network test, but it sadly wasn’t fixed at all for full version and now we gotta see if they fix this at all, sigh.
Impressive work. Well deserved promotion to be honest.
Although i do wonder how things are turning up on China and South Korea. I don’t remember who was in charge in those two areas or if there are ones there.
They have been getting more Korean’s games to spotlight recently. Chinese category recently open positions for anyone to work as a team, so they are definitely getting there.
