If only life was that easy…

I understand Towerborne being a free to play game because I don’t see many people buying it due to what it is so free and play/Game Pass makes sense especially since it’s an ever changing live service game.

Indy looks great and BO6 campaign looks explosive as hell. Mafia TOC sounds very interesting to me. Will probably see gameplay at The Game Awards.

ONL was better than SGF and the State of Play so I can’t complain. I go based on how many games that are shown being for me. If say 20 games get shown and 2 are for me, it’s a shit show. If I get 10 out of 20, then great show because im actually getting games/content out of it. I definitely see it being bad if you didn’t get any games of interest out of it but this should be for every show because if you don’t come away with at least a few games, then it’s just a waste of time. lol

In general, I want Microsoft to just rip the band aid off as they’re going to do more ports to PS5 and I would prefer them to just announce them as being day one and move on. Like, get it over with because every few months, it’s going to be the same shit like I predicted back in February. I would rather get to the point where it’s no longer a discussion or debate because everyone is used to it. The way they’re doing it now, it’s a never ending thing.

Personally, I only wanted Indy delayed because you saw my list for the rest of the year so I would have preferred December to be empty of new releases. Same applies to January as I like to use December/January to catch up on all the Fall games.

P.S. - Good list Staffy. I have a few of them on my list a well.

Well, looks like the problem maybe my Xbox, because Started is also getting some visual issues. We’ll hopefully it doesn’t die until next gen.

I somewhat disagree with the is as first of all, I still doubt it’ll happen with all games, especially this close. Second, the discourse isn’t for Microsoft to decide but the online social circles that have nothing better to do. There is no bandaid and there is no negativity created by doing what they are doing; only specific people online who enjoy making negative content about MS are the ones making up that bandaid. For the rest of the world, it’s just another normal day and it has zero impact.

I disagree. I do think they need to keep people excited and interested and it would be better if they messaged things better. The people peddling doom and gloom news are certainly growing and it doesn’t help that Xbox doesn’t do marketing to combat that could help combat things. Right now, you have people more confused than interested. This today knocked out the wind on anything Xbox just look at the big influencers on YouTube. I’m all for what they may be trying but I think they need to instill confidence and at least make people believe they know what they’re doing. Phil Spencer is again trending on twitter for the wrong reasons. Their idea for Xbox one was good but they fumbled the messaging I certainly hope it isn’t so again. Social media then again was what hit them the hardest.

It probably won’t happen with every game but the bigger major games, I pretty much see as being a guarantee because it’s going to make Microsoft a lot of money and that’s what they want.

There IS negativity because anyone who’s been an Xbox fan feels like they’ve been shitted on for the last decade and it never ends. The band aid is that every time you turn around there’s rumors of this game or that game going to PlayStation. This IS not because of people online. IT IS because of Microsoft. They’re the ones that made the decision, not the people upset online. If Microsoft was actually HONEST about everything back in February, maybe there wouldn’t be as much negativity as there is now.

Fans and consumers are NOT to be blamed here because they’re not running Microsoft and making these decisions. People need to stop trying to damage control what Microsoft does and act like they’re innocent when they’re nowhere close. It’s on them, no one else.

You can’t say it has zero impact because you don’t know that. When their next console releases, it could do great but it could also bomb like Wii U and if it does, then what? Is it still on the people online when they’re not the ones that control Microsoft and make the decisions?

Haven’t watched ONL but I can say that the discourse is tiring, and they do need to get on top of messaging as you can imagine this discourse will happen again at the Keighley’s Game Awards and this shows reach a huge audience. If they don’t try to fix this now, they will bleed the excitement out of their brand.

I actually saw player count in afternoon hour over here USA and it was at 220,000. Definitely good, but you can tell where the numbers are coming from.

Exactly I have said the only thing that is making this game take of is because it is based on Journey to the west which is like central to China in classic tales and has inspired a lot of Asian stories even manga and anime. Might be time for ninja theory to remaster Enslaved for China.

I got to say, I feel bad for Borderlands 4 due to the timing. If the movie was good, people will be flipping out from this announcement. Instead, they’re seeing it like either a way to say sorry or pity them for bad timing.

You can feel sorry for Borderlands 4 and still not feel sorry for Randy Pitchford.

They were honest though. The question back then was something like, “are Starfield and Indiana Jones part of these 4 games?”, which they weren’t. Phil Spencer mentioned they were testing the waters with that batch and obviously the data showed them that it’s something they should keep doing, or they need more data. Likely a combination of both.

I also see a lot of the frustration is with the not knowing which titles are going multi-plat and when, but case-by-case is really the only way they can do it. Especially in these relatively early days of the strategy, where the sample size of data is less than a year old. We probably won’t be able to decipher a clear strategy from our perspective until after 2-3 years, or in the unlikely event they outright tell us, so it’s going to look a bit haphazard akin to throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks.

As Phil Spencer said, they lost the most important gen and had to come up with a new strategy to remain healthy, which they are. Unfortunately for some, what’s healthy for the brand, probably isn’t good for those who are tied in the “traditional” ways of the console industry.

Shit man, that sucks. Tried a hard reset already? I hope it won’t become worse!

Not yet, but I’ll give it try later and try out other games to see if anything like that happens.

The biggest news for me was the dying light game and path of exile 2 beta. Overall good show but still a gut punch for Xbox fans with indi. I feel like ff16 will be comming which is awesome as it’s a great game. I think it’s important for people to remember that despite the games going to ps5 and switch they still come to gamepass for a low price. I still think for a lot of people especially younger without disposable income that could be a big thing. Time will tell. The console isn’t going anywhere and there is another console is in development so I think Xbox is ok for probably at least 8 to 10 more years
