With all the studios Microsoft has and them all finally done with pre-existing contracts and being a well oiled machine, I have zero concerns regarding the Xbox Games Showcase. The only thing I would say is that for me personally, they gave me 15 games from last year’s showcase with 11 of them already being released (including Doom tomorrow/Wednesday) so going into this year’s showcase, im simply keeping my expectations of getting that many games two years in a row is slim to none.
But im still expecting to have 8+ games total for me. Ninja Gaiden 4, COD 2025 campaign, The Outer Worlds 2 (direct), next expansion for Starfield, Clockwork Revolution, a few third party games and probably a few new games getting announced.
Last year’s showcase was simply a juggernaut and I can only imagine how many more games I would have had last year if the second half (4 games) of the showcase was equal to the first half (11 games) for me.
Still hyped for the showcase though like I always am. Four weeks from today!! Already requested off my 10 day vacation from Friday June 6th through Sunday June 15th. Let’s go baby!!
There is barely any point in listening to these journalists/insiders/etc… All they do is speculate on completely obvious observations. “COULD TARIFFS AND INCREASING PRICES IMPACT CONSOLE SALES?” - Some of our sources in the industry think yes.
They did use it as a stomping ground to work many things around it, like a test lab. I guess they feel the need to test it further by releasing to all platforms.
He’s done it multiple times now, always with negative news about Xbox. Yet people take his word as the gospel, just because he provides UK sales data. It’s clear he doesn’t like Xbox, he’s a massive Nintendo and PS fan and his opinions always reflect that.
It’s stupid as while I really wouldn’t want Hogwarts Legacy to have been a true “live service” game (as I really, really dislike them for the most part!), it’s one of those that could easily have taken the Assassin’s Creed approach to earn them income after the initial sale.
For example leaving the main single-player story alone (just as AC does) but having “events” in game, from simple additional missions / cosmetics to full-blown expansions / events like Quidditch (instead of the separate game) and the Tri-Wizard Cup, plus visiting schools and holidays such as Christmas and Halloween.
They made such a vivid, full-of-life world that I really loved my time with the game and was happy to hang around more in the world after - but when your fellow students don’t talk or say the same few lines, and nothing changes any further after you’ve completed all the missions, there’s just nothing to do and the world that felt so alive suddenly feels very two-dimensional.
It could have easily been retro-fitted to be the base to expand upon (alongside an eventual sequel which is going to take a long time to make) and provided more income to WB while giving fans of the game more to do…
