Because of course how could I forget the delusion so many are on nowadays :skull:

Certainly Sony would never do something evil like forcing developers to create more than one performance profile for the same game. That’s something only mean old Microsoft would do, and it was practically impossible for the poor devs to accomplish. I’ve heard this from many online experts.

That’s not how it works. The series s profiles work on a series s, PS5 is a completely different thing to code for.

Except that’s not how it works… it’s not like they can just hit the “port button”… we’re talking about a requirement of effort that devs will have to do for Sony that they don’t have to for Xbox because they already planned ahead. We’re talking about a heavy lift that most devs/studios aren’t going to do considering the lack of incentive.

Seriously, this is nothing new and actual software engineers here (myself included) have been trying to dampen expectations because of this pesky little thing called physics and its accompanying thermodynamics.

We’ve really crossed the echelons of media literacy here, far too many braindead commenters unable to grasp basic concepts, let alone being capable of critical thought.

I think it’s best if Sony makes a PS4 handheld and have it be in the mix. Maybe upgrade the CPU a little . This way they might have developers view it like a series S. They can wait like Valve to see what the future holds in tech for any further upgrade.

Just bought a refurbished Xbox series x from Microsoft store, after being 2 years on series s. The good surprise is, the refurbished Xbox is only in service since September 2024

Meaning that their warranties intact, right?

Yeah, but whatever the date of service when you buy a refurbished Xbox on Microsoft store it includes a 2 year warranty (at least in Europe)

:musical_note:Don’t blame it on the sunshine, don’t blame it on the moonlight, don’t blame it on the good times, blame it on the Series S!:musical_note:

I will be honest, if anyone but Sony launched an upgraded console thats $300 more, promised massive framerate increases / no compromises, and underdelivered as spectacularly as the PS5 Pro so far*…blood in the streets.

*setting aside the doublestandard and that there shouldn’t be blood in the streets over dumb tech. I am sure devs will eventually put it to good use…right?

I think there is and will be good use examples here and there but overall I think it was just the wrong upgrade path to go in the first place. It should’ve been performance focused to brute force 60 and 120fps, and be easy from the developer side. It might otherwise be considered glorified beta testing for PSSR as it matures and maybe one day be consistently good enough to be the standard for PS6+

The particularly galling part is PlayStation fanboys blaming “lazy” developers if the Pro patch isn’t perfect - something the publishers are providing for free unlike the paid upgrades for PS5 versions / remasters their beloved Sony always does (remember “You can’t expect PS to do the work on an upgraded PS5 version for nothing!” when the Series had free upgrades?).

Fucking hypocrites.

And as I’ve said before, unlike shitty PSSR, Nvidia with DLSS at least understands if you’re charging for a premium product you need to provide premium service so has a team working on driver improvements and game compatibility, not dropping it all on devs.

But as usual, Sony takes the cheap way out on knowing their defence force in the gaming media and fanboys will excuse them, so they can take a huge profit on it instead
