Interesting clip. Nothing really new, but John speculates how the original vision for Xbox by the Microsoft team was basically a pc for the living room. He says the team back in the late 90s,early 2000s determined that this wasn’t the time to do this. That the hardware and software wasn’t there yet and John says they were right. But it is there now he says and if done well maybe they can realize that original vision.

Maybe even with that big X, man, that actually would be very cool, but that part isn’t gonna happen.

The most respected and highly regarded journalist in the industry btw

As someone who’s firmly convinced streaming is the future, and that that future is closer than many think, AND that Sony is running a real risk of Kodak/Blockbuster/Nokia-ing themselves, this is kinda funny to me. It’s like they’re celebrating their own demise.

Also, there must be high fives going on throughout Xbox HQ ever since this campaign launched. They’re getting so much free advertising from these kinds of memes.

Regardless of all this, it’s just the comfortability of despite being an industry renowned journalist, he is engaging with this news like the average console-war YouTuber out there, shrugging off Xbox players worrying about losing access to FromSoft games with a meme… yikes man.

He’s been like this for a while. I have lost a lot of respect for him as a result. Seems somewhat competent but very foolish and ragebaity.

What a prick lol, he can fuck off with the rest of them…

I’m starting to run out of fucks to give with the gaming media lol - between Keighley and Schrier, and so many others, they aren’t even hiding their console warring anymore.

It used to be they’d at least pretend to be unbiased - and too many industry figures like Ybarra and others cheer on PlayStation’s near-monopoly in high end consoles (that has helped to push up the cost of gaming while Xbox has been reducing it), while Microsoft will forever be “the big bad”

Ybarra is just salty he was let go of his dream job lol

Yep I’ve noticed since then he’s gone from “looking forward to the Microsoft takeover” to “woo PlayStation they’re for the gamers”.

Hell hath no fury and all that shit lol…

What do you mean by “lost”? lol

While im not judging him as a person since I don’t know him but as a games journalist, he’s pathetic. He blocks anyone who disagrees with him and even more so proves him wrong like I did and he engages in all this bullshit because he IS a massive PlayStation extremist. I’m also pretty certain he once said that he wished Microsoft never entered the console gaming industry with Xbox. Thankfully, Xbox is alive and well and will be around for a very long time which is great for me because only having a PlayStation would fucking suck and blow chunks.

Hey man, ain’t nothing wrong with Chunks.

Yeah I mean only knew him from his big exposes which seemed groundbreaking and amazing at the time, but now I’m a bit dubious of how one-sided and tabloidy they felt.

He’s worked with Dina Bass and others and they rarely seem to get the same credit he does for many of those pieces.

And that’s why Dina Bass got the interview at Bloomberg.

Hopefully he never gets an interview from Xbox.

I did not know Xbox controllers connect directly with a wire if it’s a high quality type C :open_mouth: (at least on PC). I always assumed the cable just powered them because I used mid quality cables lol. I wonder if there’s latency difference.

If Jason got the interview MS PR would reject all his questions beforehand :skull:

Be interesting if they somehow incorporate this into the new Xbox:
