XboxEra Community Hangout |OT13| The Bakers Dozen

It’s a shame really that Xbox can’t seem to get anything on the windows or Xbox app store. Black Myth is available on the Epic games store. It would have been nice to have it available on the Windows store as well even if it isn’t play anywhere or available on Xbox.

Yes and no; the context is important. Disney can’t copyright the name “Elsa” but if I made my own cartoon with a princess named Elsa with ice powers and a snowman sidekick I’d expect to hear from their lawyers.

Using the name Albion as the setting for a new fantasy RPG video game, depending on what other details coincide with the Fable series, could definitely be a problem.

It’s crazy how the most successful games of the year currently are Wukong and Palworld lol. No one had that in their bingo cards.

I’d play Concord if it were on Xbox. Looks pretty good, honestly.

This comment made me go look up concurrent numbers now that it has launched for real and…ooof. Hope the devs make it.

When a game like Concord or Suicide Squad launches to an overwhelming response from gamers of “We don’t want this.”

I am morbidly curious. Was it a surprise? They must have been doing focus groups during the years of development, right? Surely the focus groups told them, “We don’t want this”?

Did the devs just think they knew better?

Eagerly awaiting the Jason Schreier behind the scenes book.

Between the success of Wukong and it being lauded as a monument to the “anti-woke”, and Concord falling flat on it’s face much to the joy of that same crowd, it’s been a real depressing week in video games for me.

I am sure focus groups told them “yeah we like hero shooters” and they kept iterating and saying “oh this and this and this will be better at launch” and never got there.

I think honestly £35 for a PVP shooter, that’s also a new IP, is a very tough sell in today’s market considering the vast majority of the competition is F2P.

I understand it but it also is kind of a shame because they went with a “you buy the game, you own all the content” approach rather than aggressive monetisation and battle passes.

My only (very less than ideal) advice is to ignore it and remember all the stuff that is “woke” that does quite well without that crowd. (BG3, OW2, WOW, etc)

Holy shit, Sand Land is NOT a short game.

Earlier this week I got to a part in the story where I thought “damn, it feels like I’m nearing the end.” well I was way off.

This game holds some very nice surprises. I find it a lovely game. It’s like a big journey with two friends, it feels great and it’s fun as hell. A lot of things are done extremely well. I kinda want to say…where did this come from? Often games based on anime/manga aren’t that great, right? What a nice surprise this one.

Honestly I think people are willing to pay if something in the game hooks them. This game said its selling point was the characters, and people looked at the characters and weren’t interested in what they saw.

Now, people arguing for “anti-woke” and saying that diversity is the problem can go take a long walk off a short pier AFAIC. You just need to look at Overwatch to see that diversity is not the problem.

I’ve seen other announcements of stores in China selling out their entire inventory of PS5. All six of them. (Not kidding.)

Until I see some actual numbers, I’ll be taking this “PS5 is sold out in China” news with a grain of salt.

Obviously, hey did focus groups for the audience that they wanted to buy their product, not the audience that was out there buying games.

Yet to pass 1,000 player count for Concord on Steam. That’s…yeah…

No clue why it didn’t at least launch as a free game on PS+ Essentials. I think the game is doomed due to bad first impression

Probably would have done better without the beta

I think its selling out being of Concord exclusive.

Best comment about the game i’ve seen, honestly never cared about the woke or antiwoke stuff, yea i saw some diversity stuff about the game that feels a bit forced not gonna lie, would never buy or stop buying a game because of this tho, much less try to boicot it.

But yea the game has one of the ugliest character design i’ve seen

But wow, this game has one of the ugliest character designs i’ve seen, as you said, it’s day and night compared to Overwatch for example.

I’m a diversity type of guy and tried it for that reason. It isn’t just the character designs (aesthetics). It just feels hollow, the matches do not have any sort of push and pull. I don’t feel happy when I’m taking someone down, I feel nothing when I die. Its very hollow feeling game.
