I expect the overlap to be quite substantial already as it attracts a certain personality, but that would make it worse.
Mega-Cult?

Apple is fully capable of producing their own gaming hardware. Outside of some studios I donāt see what they would get out of buying PlayStation. Itās not like PlayStation carries more marketing clout than Apple.
No the thing floating around is a partnership. I was just saying that if Apple wanted to take things further via purchase even that would make sense.
Last time Apple produced gaming hardware we got the Pippen. The less said about that console the better.
Sorry. I wasnāt questioning what you were saying. I was just asking if Sony is a government protected company like im always seeing online. Thatās all. I just want to know if thereās any factual info regarding this.
No need to apologize, I just wanted to make clear in general because the following responses continued on that train of thought.
I also didnāt want to go over the ārumorā (again Iād like to call it an idea) of Apple and PlayStation partnering in bringing games to the Apple platform in detail because it would give credence to it.
But I wanted to use that context in making a point about the importance of gaming to Windows. That with the landscape changing so rapidly that Microsoft needs to be protective of Windows as a gaming platform.
Until Dawn on Steam peaked barely 2,600. They want to make a movie and supposedly a sequel and this is what they can get. That movie needs to do some great boost then. Otherwise, not sure if this is what they want. I enjoyed the game a long time ago, but I always seen it as one and done. Time will tell.
I will eat crow if it happens. Apples eco strategy is closed from end to end.
Disrupting that would be crazy frankly.
I think they are, in their own way - theyāre making sure Windows can work on the new Arm chips with an improved translation layer they continue to improve (important if new handhelds etc use Arm rather than x86), theyāre continuing to improve the interface for gaming handhelds and they continue to improve DirectX12 with Nvidia and AMD and look at their own upscalers, auto improvements and AI tech.
They even a few years back put the Xbox app into the core of Windows meaning itās there on corporate machines and has to be disabled, much to the annoyance of firms - but it also means Game Pass can work on Pro versions of Windows for example, which wasnāt always the case.
They canāt do much more than they are - they have to play nice (both in terms of letting others put anything on Windows, such as drivers for competing hardware like the DualSense, and porting Office etc to Mac) because Windows is so dominant it counts as a monopoly still.
Iāve little doubt though if we started to see Windows and Office lose their monopolies, that āsharing, caringā Microsoft would quickly revert to ādestroy all competitors then pay the fines laterā Microsoft - they know theyāre core to their profits and to the success of Azureā¦
Iām no game dev, Iāve no idea if this has any implications for making games, but it seems like maybe it could:
Talking of Apple - Iām no fan of Google (their dominance of search is a particular problem, visibility in results is key for many small businesses but theyāre often forced into using Adwords due to algorithm changes or better connected / richer competitors) but I donāt quite see why Google has lost cases over dominance of Android but US courts have consistently sided with Apple over not having a monopoly on iOS - despite being the only option on it outside the EU.
At least on Android you can install other stores such as Amazon and Samsung - even if it can be a painā¦
Why does Apple seem to have this unicorn status that theyāre so untouchable?!
Iām really, really hoping the EU continue to hammer Apple and this US government antitrust case succeeds - as every other US court appears to give Apple a free pass no one else can get:
Heads up if anyoneās got a decent PC (as Iām not sure the Ubisoft store really works for Xbox) - Ubi have a sale on with an extra Ā£12.50 off orders over Ā£24.99 with the code AUTUMN24
Just got AC Mirage standard edition and Watch Dogs: Legion standard edition together for £14.15

Guess Google lawyer wasnāt good enough.
While Iām glad strangleholds are being removed (itād be interesting to see in consoles too), as mentioned above I cannot fathom how a court can see a monopoly for Google but not Apple when theyāve got 70% of the US smartphone market (and the US governmentās suit has excerpts from Jobs specifically saying āthat Kindle app showed it was too easy to swap from iOS to Android, we need to stop thatā!)

Is that true? If so, talk about greatest comeback.
